Western Pomerania forms the north-easternmost tip of Germany and fascinates with its mixture of beautiful beaches, heathland and pine forests. One of the most popular holiday destinations is the island of Rügen, where you can visit the chalk cliffs in the Jasmund National Park. The Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft, a fishing and sailing paradise, is also a nature reserve. Camping in the Mecklenburg Lake District is also popular.
Holidaymakers can find many campsites in Western Pomerania on the beaches and dunes of the island of Usedom. Here you will find seaside resorts such as Heringsdorf and Ahlbeck, where you can visit the charming piers. In the hinterland, the floodplains of the Peene Valley and the Szczecin Lagoon are perfect for excursions. Here you can go cycling and rowing, among other things.
For most campers, the period from May to September is ideal for a holiday in Western Pomerania. This is when the temperatures are pleasantly warm and can be used for excursions and sporting activities. If you fancy a dip in the Baltic Sea, it is best to travel in July and August. Water sports enthusiasts like to take to the waves with kites, surfboards and sailing boats in May, September and October. This is when stable winds prevail for these sports. The weather is favourable with temperatures between 13 and 17 degrees Celsius and comparatively little rain.
