Pitches can be found directly on the shores of the lake or near one of the towns that lie on its shores. In the south-east, campers like to head for Peschiera del Garda or Lazise with its medieval old town and sandy beaches. Hiking fans and climbers are drawn to the north of the lake, where the Garda mountains of Trentino rise up. Surfers can pursue their passion in the constant breeze that prevails here.

ExceptionalCamping on Lake Garda promises a holiday in one of the most beautiful regions in Italy. Italy's largest lake lies deep blue between the high mountains of Trentino and the rolling hills of Lombardy and Veneto. A truly magical place awaits campers here, combining lively little towns and ancient sights, breathtaking nature and Italian dolce vita. There are also numerous excellent campsites right by the water. No wonder Lake Garda is considered one of the top addresses for campers in Europe.
Lake Garda is the largest and most famous lake in Italy and camping has a long tradition here. Accordingly, there is a large selection of campsites with beautiful pitches for caravans and mobile homes right on the shores of the lake. There are particularly many holiday resorts on the south-eastern shore of the lake, for example in the villages of Pacengo, Lazise or in Peschiera del Garda with the popular Bergamini campsite. Hikers, climbers and mountain bikers will find their holiday happiness in the north of Lake Garda. There, the Lake Garda mountains of Trentino rise up to over 2000 metres above sea level. The northern part of the lake is also very popular with water sports enthusiasts due to the constant breeze. If you want to camp there, you have a choice: from simple campsites to family-friendly camping resorts with mobile homes and rental accommodation, there is something to suit every taste.
Camping with dogs is possible at many campsites on Lake Garda, as the campsite operators are well aware that many travellers don't want to leave their pets at home on holiday. Many campsites are particularly dog-friendly and offer services such as dog showers and other extras. There are also several dog beaches on Lake Garda, for example in Manerba del Garda, Toscolano Maderno or Peschiera del Garda.
The facilities at the campsites on Lake Garda are excellent. The pitches are often located on meadows, with pools, children's pools and sports fields in between. In addition to pitches for caravans and motorhomes, rental accommodation, mobile homes or holiday flats are usually also available. Glamping on Lake Garda in luxuriously furnished lodge tents is also popular. Many campsites also offer their own access to the lake or are located directly on the lakeside promenade.
Some of the most popular campsites on Lake Garda are
Great family campsite between Bardolino and Garda - right on the lake, not too big and a friendly atmosphere. Thanks to the agility course, the site is also suitable for dog owners. Children 's entertainment is regularly organised for younger guests in high season. There are also kayaking and stand-up paddling courses and guided hikes.
Feel-good camping at the highest level: the comfortable campsite south of Lazise offers two large pool areas, many bathing options and a wide range of leisure activities as well as pedal boat, electric boat and SUP board hire. A big plus for families with children: The famous Gardaland theme park is just a stone's throw from the campsite.
This recommended campsite on the western shore of Lake Garda awaits its guests in a quiet location. The natural design of the site makes it the ideal destination for those seeking relaxation. The pitches in the first row with a marvellous view of the lake are particularly popular (and recommended) among campers.
The campsite directly on the western shore of Lake Garda is ideal for cycling holidaymakers. The holiday village is part of the GARDA-BIKE network and offers information, maintenance and bike hire. The neighbouring towns of Manerba del Garda and Torri del Benaco are perfect destinations for excursions by bike. The spacious pool area with children's pool, whirlpool and sunbathing lawn is the perfect place to relax.
Lively camping resort in Peschiera del Garda and the perfect place for water sports enthusiasts, families and campers looking for action. The site has its own water sports centre with stand-up paddling, water skiing and wakeboarding courses. There is also a huge range of leisure activities, water games, a high ropes course and a large bathing area with several swimming pools.
Each side of Lake Garda has its own charms. In the north around Torbole, action is the order of the day: water sports, climbing, mountain biking and cycling. Of course, there is also hiking, for example on the "Sentiero della Pace" peace trail or the panoramic high-altitude trails on Monte Baldo. The south attracts visitors with its beautiful and extensive beaches. Some places have even created sandy beaches on what are actually rocky shores.
The towns on the western shore of Lake Garda are rather quieter: Limone sul Garda, Gargnano, the Riviera with Gardone Riviera or Saló. In contrast, the lively eastern shore is home to a number of amusement parks. Malcesine, praised by Goethe, Torri del Benaco with its crenellated walls and Bardolino with its "Piazza Matteotti" promenade are enchanting with their Italian flair . There are a particularly large number of campsites between Garda and Sirmione. The holiday resort of Lazise is also worth a visit. The town offers some of the most beautiful campsites on Lake Garda and numerous sights in the surrounding area.
Thanks to the constant wind on the northern shore of Lake Garda, the former fishing village of Torbole is now primarily known as a hotspot for sailing and windsurfing on Lake Garda. However, the historic town centre with its winding alleyways is also well worth a visit - even Goethe was enchanted by the charm of the village during his trip to Italy in 1787. The Lake Garda mountains to the north also make Torbole an excellent starting point for mountain hikes.

Sirmione is located on a peninsula on the southern shore of Lake Garda and is considered one of the most romantic places in the region. The beautiful old town centre and the magnificent moated castle - an old Scaliger fort - invite you to take long walks with a fantastic view of the lake. The "Grottoes of Catullus" are also worth a visit : in Roman times, the ruins were one of the largest villas in the whole of Italy. There are also many beautiful bathing spots at the tip of the island. It is only a stone's throw from here to Verona, for example to visit the opera festival in the Arena.
Lazise is located on the south-eastern shore of Lake Garda. The town not only has some of the most beautiful campsites on Lake Garda, but also a picturesque town centre and a fantastic promenade around the harbour. Gardaland, a few kilometres south of Lazise, is particularly fun for children. The amusement park is one of the largest in the country and offers rollercoasters, bumper cars and much more. Best of all, Gardaland is less than a kilometre from the shores of Lake Garda.
There is so much to see on Lake Garda - it's no wonder that many campers have been coming here for years and are still discovering new things. If you want to discover some of the most beautiful and popular places and sights in the region in one go, we recommend a round trip around Lake Garda.
The road trip is particularly suitable for campers with motorhomes. However, as most campsites also rent out mobile homes and accommodation, in principle a car is also sufficient. The tour goes in a circle around the entire lake, so you can start at practically any point. Depending on your time and preferences, you should allow at least a week for the tour.
