Many campsites in Riva del Garda are located in the immediate vicinity of Lake Garda and are extremely popular with families and water sports enthusiasts. From here, it is only a few hundred metres to the town's surf schools or to the family-friendly "Spiaggia Sabbioni" beach with a variety of play options.
There are also a number of centrally located campsites inland around the city. Some of them enchant with a marvellous view of the Castello di Arco perched high on a rock. Culture lovers opt for the campsites near the centre. From here, you can reach the sights in around 20 minutes on foot.
One of the few 4-star campsites in Riva del Garda is beautifully situated in a 100-year-old olive grove. The beach is just 500 metres away and the cycle path to Torbole is right next to the site. In addition to fully equipped pitches, the campsite also offers cosy mobile homes for up to 5 people.
Surrounded by magnificent mountain ranges, this campsite is located directly on the large beach between Riva del Garda and Torbole. The neighbouring cycle paths are perfect for exploring the beautiful surroundings. However, there is no rental accommodation at this campsite.
Riva del Garda in the northern Italian province of Trentino is also known as the pearl of Lake Garda. Located in the north of the lake and at the foot of the mighty Monte Brione, the town is characterised by countless lemon and olive groves, palm trees and pretty palazzi that date back to the Venetian period. The unique atmosphere of Riva del Garda is a mixture of Alpine culture and Mediterranean lifestyle that you are unlikely to find anywhere else in Italy.
The area around Riva del Garda is home to a number of beautiful holiday and excursion destinations, all of which are easily accessible from the campsites. Culture vultures can explore the cities of Trentino and sporty campers can climb the peaks of the famous Dolomites.
To the north-west of Riva del Garda lies the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park, one of the most beautiful national parks in the Southern Alps. In a dreamlike setting of mountains, glacial lakes and forests, even less experienced hikers will find countless great trails.
If you prefer something a little more sporty, try the famous via ferrata "Via delle Bocchette Centrale". This ribbon via ferrata in the heart of the Brenta Dolomites is also suitable for brave beginners and offers fantastic views of Lake Garda.
The capital of Trentino is idyllically situated amidst vineyards, orchards and an extensive lake landscape. A day trip offers those interested in culture the perfect opportunity to explore this diverse city with its rich history.
The Cathedral Square, the historic castle "Castello del Buonconsiglio", the Cathedral Square, the aristocratic palaces and the magnificent Neptune Fountain are particularly worth seeing from an architectural point of view. If you want even more culture afterwards, visit the Natural Science Museum, the municipal planetarium or the Aviation Museum.
The Dolomites are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and, with their bizarre limestone formations, are among the most beautiful mountains in the Southern Alps. A stay at one of the campsites in Riva del Garda is the perfect opportunity to see this natural wonder up close.
Especially in the morning and at sunset, the peaks and steep rock faces of the Dolomites shine in an almost magical light. One of the best-known excursion destinations are the famous peaks of the "Three Peaks". There are countless via ferratas in the Dolomites - secured mountain routes that can be tackled even without mountaineering experience. You can find out about the respective levels of difficulty at the campsites. One of the most popular routes for beginners is the "Via Ferrata Fausto Susatti".
Although Lake Garda is considered a mountain lake, the Mediterranean influence predominates. This is also the reason why nature awakens earlier here in spring than elsewhere. As early as April, when most campsites in Riva del Garda open, temperatures rise to 19°C. With 9 to 10 hours of sunshine, the weather is most favourable from May to August.
From July to September, the water of Lake Garda warms up to a bathing temperature of 22 to 24°C. The air is at its warmest in July and August with temperatures between 20 and 29°C. The mild autumn climate is ideal for long hikes.
