Sparkling lakes in the midst of mysterious forests, rolling hills and vast heathlands that stretch to the horizon: Brandenburg is a real insider tip for nature-loving campers. The countless bodies of water make the easternmost federal state a popular destination for a camping holiday by the lake, especially in summer. Brandenburg has many faces. But there is one thing that Germany's easternmost federal state has in abundance: plenty of nature and lots of space for those seeking peace and quiet who want to leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind. Brandenburg is known above all for its countless lakes, which date back to the last ice age and have excellent water quality. Almost all of the 250 or so official bathing spots in Brandenburg regularly receive the rating "excellent". Interesting for campers: many of the campsites are located in the immediate vicinity of bathing lakes, e.g. the Großer Stechlinsee, Parsteiner See or Helenesee. Perfect for relaxing by the water in summer or setting off on discovery tours by canoe or kayak. Rivers such as the Spree and Havel connect many of the lakes and make longer tours possible. There are free bivouac sites and campsites on numerous bodies of water - no wonder water hiking is so popular in Brandenburg. In addition to the official campsites, you can also park your motorhome on numerous campervan sites. If you are travelling on foot or by bike with a tent, you can even camp wild in Brandenburg for one night outside of nature reserves. There are also often free camping meadows near the villages. Campers with dogs are welcome guests at almost all campsites.
The campsites in Brandenburg range from simple nature campsites by a bathing lake to more luxurious sites with pitches for discerning travellers. Many campsites offer rental accommodation, holiday homes or mobile homes for campers without motorhomes.
