Pros: friendly staff (except for the gas bottle guy), electricity, water, sewage at the pitch; shopping options, restaurants, small swimming lake, indoor water paradise, jungle golf, large recreational offer in the region, clean washhouses, offers are more suitable for children than athletes, 5* rating justified as a family campsite overall. Cons: only 8A included electricity, Wi-Fi and 5G poor, occasional loud sliding noise, trail network (partially) very damaged, pitches sometimes uneven (ours sloped steeply on two sides with a real step next to the paved terrace, tripping hazard in the awning area), CamperClean out of order, gas bottle exchange only 1/2 hour at lunchtime, not all bottle types available, dogs are rather tolerated than welcomed (no agility area, etc.). The positives outweigh, price/performance is acceptable due to the extensive offer.

Very good. However, the opening hours were, probably due to the season, not ideal. The restaurant closed at 8 o'clock, which I found too early. Similarly, the beach cocktail bar closed at 7, just when I wanted to go there. I missed a place where I could sit with friends in the evening and have a drink, maybe a game of pool. But that's nitpicking. It was very enjoyable and we would love to come back. But in the summer, I hope it won't be too crowded.

No holiday is as individual as camping, and everyone has different expectations... This is a wonderful campsite where we stayed with a caravan, offering many opportunities: several playgrounds, mini-golf, a lake, beach volleyball, an indoor playground, and a spa that we really enjoyed, along with a market, ice cream, a beach bar, burgers, etc. However, you do have to pay extra everywhere. The included 6A power connection seems more like a lure. Upgrading to 12A or 16A entails a flat fee of €4 and 0.70€/kWh or 1.00€/kWh based on usage. We found this rather exploitative... The campsite is marketed with new Wi-Fi coverage. Yes, that's generally true, peaking at 50Mbit. Unfortunately, you also get disconnected quickly, and by evening only about 3Mbit remains. Too little for streaming. All mobile networks are hardly available. So a flat rate is of little help.

The pitch at Tannengrund is nicely located, but the mobile network coverage is poor.

Camping holidays by the lake with a South Sea feeling - that's what the child-friendly Südsee-Camp in Wietzendorf near Soltau in the Lüneburg Heath has to offer. Families in particular love the holiday village for its natural swimming lake lined with white sandy beaches and its tropical indoor adventure pool with wave pool, water slide, wild water channel and sauna. Thanks to excellent transport links, travelling to the village by motorhome is very easy. During the season, we recommend booking pitches for several nights well in advance.
With its private natural swimming lake and indoor pool, the Südsee-Camp invites you to enjoy hours of fun in the cool water both indoors and outdoors. The water landscape is more than just a swimming pool: in the white water canyon, in the wave pool or in the children's pool with pirate ship and slide, every guest will find pure bathing fun and the name fun pool is no exaggeration. Numerous sports fields, a mini-golf course, a climbing garden, a skating rink, a kettcar hire service, a giant trampoline and the site's riding centre with pony rides and riding lessons offer plenty of opportunities to let off steam in the fresh air. The Südsee-Camp is also always up to date with the latest leisure trends and inspires with unusual leisure activities such as KanJam or Loopyball. The trained children's entertainment team inspires children and young people with fun and games in a colourful holiday programme that offers plenty of variety. But it's not just the entertainment programme that is popular with the children, there are several playgrounds on the site and there is even a marquee where shows and events take place. The campsite's restaurants and shops cater for everyone's physical well-being. One of the highlights is certainly the adventure restaurant at the lighthouse. From the breakfast buffet to a small snack at lunchtime, cake in the afternoon, dinner with the whole family and a cocktail in the evening, everything is catered for at the Südseecamp.
The approximately 80-hectare campsite site is divided into various themed areas directly on the lakeshore, hidden in the forest with pitches in the shade or on sunny meadows. The pitches for caravans and motorhomes, which measure between 80 and 135 square metres, offer either a peaceful or lively atmosphere. The pitches are parcelled out and have electricity and fresh water connections. The campsite's wash houses are spread across the site and offer modern toilet facilities and hot showers as well as special washrooms and sanitary areas for families and sanitary cabins for children. Emptying cassette toilets is possible on the campsite without much effort. Television connections with cable TV and WLAN are available in some areas. There are special areas for families with dogs on the dog-friendly campsite.
Guests without their own motorhome can rent one of the site's well-equipped caravans. Those who don't fancy traditional camping can opt for an overnight stay in one of the rental accommodations. Swedish wooden houses await holiday guests in the Sommarby holiday village. Alternatively, there are modern chalets to choose from, either in the forest or by the lake.
With its service and facilities, the South Sea Camp epitomises camping at a very high level.
Nestled in a fairytale forest and moorland landscape, not only the campsite itself but also its surroundings promise an eventful time out in the natural surroundings of the Lüneburg Heath. The Südsee-Camp is a true holiday paradise that leaves nothing to be desired. However, guests should not forget the attractive surroundings of the campsite. Day trips to places such as Celle with the Celle Castle, Hodenhagen with the Serengeti Park, Munster with the German Tank Museum or the Weltvogelpark Walsrode, the largest bird park in the world, are definitely worthwhile. In Soltau, the toy museum is particularly appealing to young campers. The rural and quiet location of the Südsee-Camp about 3 km north-west of the resort town of Wietzendorf makes it the ideal starting point for a walk along the famous Heidschnuckenweg trail, a bike ride from the campsite's own hire shop or a horse ride. Children love to visit the nearby Müden Wildlife Park with deer, owls and goats in species-appropriate enclosures. The Lüneburg Heath is a diverse region which, in addition to culture and attractions, is particularly fascinating due to its unspoilt nature, making it an exciting holiday destination for young and old.
