Very unfriendly reception and lack of professionalism

Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. I called on Thursday around 5 PM and asked if there was a spot available for three nights. This was confirmed, and I was told I could arrive. I received no indication that guests are only accepted until 8 PM. After 350 km of driving, I arrived at 8:40 PM. The reception was lit and staffed. However, I was turned away very rudely: they only accept guests until 8 PM. When I pointed out that the website states they are available until 9 PM in summer, the response was essentially: “And if we're here until 5 AM, we only accept until 8 PM.” Additionally, the reception area smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The overall reception struck me as unfriendly and unprofessional. Therefore, I decided to leave. A simple notice during the call at 5 PM would have easily prevented this situation.

One immediately recognizes that it still has a hint of the 'East'. Everything is rather rustic, but very well-kept and tidy, and one can tell that the place is dear to the permanent campers and the organization. You feel welcome right away and have everything you need. The location right by the lake is stunning!

We were there for a long weekend from 10/2022 to 11/2022 and were very surprised by a beautiful spot in the middle of the forest right by Lake Scharmützelsee near Bad Saarow. 250 mostly very nicely designed permanent pitches meet just as many tourist pitches. The sanitary facilities are always kept absolutely meticulously, and you will meet a nice site manager here. The permanent campers are very friendly and open and stand behind their pitches. Direct access to the lake, and everything here is also very well-kept and tidy. Showers cost €1 for 5 minutes with tokens. Very quiet day and night. We already knew before arriving but unfortunately, there is no playground on the premises.

Rustic but very good

Typical East Camping site with plots for permanent guests and areas for multi-day visitors. Everything is very tidy. There are several water connections distributed to refill fresh water. The power box is always locked by the staff, very neat. One kWh costs 50 cents. Grey water is located in the entrance area. Black water is located at the restroom building. Shower costs 1€ for 5 minutes, which is perfectly adequate and well-tempered. Wet area is very clean and spacious. Toilet stalls are very large and absolutely clean, just like everything in the restroom area. Every morning, there are various fresh rolls available at reasonable prices. The bathing beach is nearby and also very tidy and clean. There is a dog beach somewhat separated. Payment is only in cash. There is a machine on Ulmenstrasse in front of a large apartment building, somewhat inconspicuous. The staff comes over gruffly but is very friendly and absolutely helpful. The first impression is misleading! Overall, a very great idyllic campsite.
