In the south of Denmark, the Wadden Sea coast of Jutland offers top conditions for camping by the sea. Southern Denmark fascinates in this region with its fine North Sea beach and mighty dunes. On the Baltic coast, travellers will find pleasantly quiet beaches and excellent sailing and surfing areas. Families will love the proximity to the famous LEGOLAND in Billund.

Special features of camping in southern Denmark

In southern Denmark, it's all in the mix: travellers can choose between the dunes on the North Sea and the idyllic beaches on the Baltic Sea. In the west, the Wadden Sea National Park with islands such as Römö and Fanö is one of the most beautiful holiday destinations.

In summer, you can let the wind pull you over the waves on kites. In holiday resorts such as Vejers Strand and Blavand you will find some of the best campsites in southern Denmark. In the east, many holidaymakers travel just a few kilometres across the border from Germany and settle in picturesque Sønderborg. The island of Funen is also a great place to get to know the Baltic Sea.

Best time to visit

Most holidaymakers opt for a camping holiday in southern Denmark between May and October. July and August are the high season. Temperatures on Jutland and Funen then rise to over 20 degrees Celsius. In the North Sea and Baltic Sea, you can expect temperatures of around 18 degrees Celsius. If you want to go swimming in southern Denmark, you should choose these two months.

Kiters, sailors and surfers also get their money's worth in June. Good wind conditions also prevail in May, September and October. While temperatures in June are around 20 degrees Celsius, late spring and early autumn are characterised by temperatures of around 17 degrees Celsius.
