With gently sloping shores and fine sand, Halland's beaches are perfect for a family holiday. Water sports enthusiasts can enjoy Apelviken Bay, which is one of the most beautiful surfing spots in Sweden. The clear water is also ideal for diving and snorkelling. The longest beach is located near the seaside resort of Mellbystrand, where a special dog beach invites you to splash around with your four-legged friend.

From Skåne in the south to the Hallandsåsen mountain range in the north, one campsite in Halland follows the next along the coast. In the south of the province, there are numerous campsites along the Bay of Laholm, which locals call the Swedish Riviera because of its fascinating landscape. If you want to combine a cultural holiday with a beach holiday, opt for the campsites near Halmsted or the spa town of Varberg. Nature lovers travelling to Halland for a camping holiday will be happy to choose a site by one of the romantic inland lakes. For example, they can stay by the region's largest lake, Bolmen, in a picturesque setting.
Best time to visit
Halland's climate is characterised by its proximity to the sea. As there can be rainfall all year round, guests at campsites in Halland are advised to bring rainwear. The driest months on a long-term average are May, June and August. The average rainfall is eight days. From late spring to the end of summer, the sun shines from the sky for seven to nine hours. This time of year is therefore ideal for sightseeing tours, hikes and relaxing days on the beach. In July and August, the maximum average temperatures peak at around 21 degrees Celsius. The sea, on the other hand, remains refreshingly cool: the maximum temperature in midsummer is 16 degrees Celsius.
