FabulousSweden is a country full of adventure and surprises, making it the perfect destination for a camping holiday with children or as a couple. Nature camping is a top priority here, as there are countless wonderful places to pitch your tent or park your caravan in the forests and by the sea of this northern European country.
Sweden is a very large country. This means that the choice of different places where you can camp is relatively extensive. It all depends on how you want to spend your holiday in Sweden. Beautiful campsites in the middle of nature are absolutely worthwhile, but wild camping is also permitted thanks to the Everyman's Right for selected overnight accommodation.
If you are looking for the tranquillity of nature, then the forest regions and lakes inland are the perfect destination, for example in the Tiveden National Park and in the popular regions of Värmland and Örebro around the large lakes. In central Sweden, Kronocamping Lidköping is a tip for campers. If you prefer a camping holiday by the sea, the Baltic Sea beaches in the south and south-east of the country in the regions of Skåne and Kalmar are ideal. Things are a little rougher in Norrland, but those who love breathtaking landscapes will find it particularly appealing here.
The cost of camping in Sweden is surprisingly low compared to the cost of living in the country. Including electricity, pitches, visitor's tax and shower costs, the campsites are among the cheapest in Europe. Generally speaking, the further away from the sea you camp and the further north you travel, the cheaper it is. In the low season, you can save even more money at the campsites.
Many campsites in Sweden are members of the Swedish Camping Association (SCR). The Camping Key Europe camping card is mandatory at these campsites. Apart from these sites, there are also independent sites where no camping card is required. The free sites are generally a little cheaper, but the standard on the SCR sites is usually higher.
If you don't want to spend the night in a motorhome or tent, the camping cabins (Swedish: stuga or stugor), which are very popular in Sweden, are a good option. The solid wood cabins look a bit like garden sheds from the outside, but are usually equipped with bunk beds, a bathroom, kitchen and household utensils. There is also light and heating, but usually no toilet or running water. The rental accommodation is ideal for a stay of several days and can now be found in many places in Sweden. There are often signs along the roads pointing to the camping pitches.
The large selection of beautiful campsites makes it difficult to emphasise just a few. Almost all of them are characterised by very natural pitches, comfortable camping cabins and a wide range of leisure activities. There are only a few permanent campers in Sweden, but it is still advisable to book your pitch in good time via PINCAMP, especially in the summer months.
With its fantastic location right on an idyllic lake, Långasjönäs Camping & Holiday Village is an excellent choice in southern Sweden.
