Camping on Lake Plau is characterised above all by its idyllic natural surroundings and diverse activities on the shores of Germany's seventh-largest lake. There are also dog-friendly campsites on Lake Plau. Here, four-legged and two-legged friends can cool off together at the designated dog bathing areas. There is a large selection of natural campsites around the lake, and holidaymakers will also find well-equipped campsites south of the small town of Plau am See or near Alt Schwerin.

The sites usually have their own lido and numerous play facilities for families. Many also offer rowing boat hire for exploring the lake by water or bike hire for tours around the lake. Campingpark Zuruf, Wald- und Seeblick Camp, Naturcamping Zwei Seen in Zislow, Campingplatz Bad Stuer, Camping am See in Alt Schwerin and Camping- und Ferienpark Plau am See are excellent places to camp with beautiful pitches for overnight stays.

It is also worth visiting the picturesque centre of Plau am See, where picturesque half-timbered buildings await. An insider tip is to climb the 41 metre high tower of St Mary's parish church: The view of the expansive Lake Plau is phenomenal. An excursion to the Agroneum in Alt Schwerin is well worthwhile. It provides valuable insights into agricultural life in the past and present and attracts many visitors with its biennial steam engine meeting in August. The monastery in Malchow is something for campers interested in history.

Zuruf Camping Park

With its 100 metre long bathing beach, Zuruf Camping Park is a recommended destination for families and water sports enthusiasts. Thanks to the rowing boat hire service, guests have access to the entire lake and can explore the region's cycle routes starting here by bike. Motorhomes will find charming pitches with a view of the lake and can take advantage of the comprehensive service. A laundry sink, dishwashing sink, washing machine, tumble dryer and gas bottle supply are available for use. Guests and permanent campers balance each other out at the Zuruf camping park.

Naturcamping Malchow

The 4-star Naturcamping Malchow has a 30 metre wide bathing beach. The site itself is very natural and surrounded by tall deciduous trees. The family-friendly site with entertainment, children's playgrounds, bike hire, boat hire and riding courses leaves nothing to be desired when it comes to leisure activities.

Naturcamping Zwei Seen in Zislow

Naturcamping Zwei Seen in Zislow is an idyll for nature lovers with its 750 metre long sandy beach and several bays. With a pleasant mix of permanent campers and pitches for motorhomes, the site has a very friendly atmosphere. Nature lovers can explore the region, which is very varied with the Mecklenburg Lake District and Havelland in the neighbourhood. Holidaymakers without motorhomes can also book rental accommodation on request.

Weather

As rainfall can be expected at Lake Plau all year round, campers are advised to pack rain gear. In midsummer, from July to August, temperatures rise to around 24 degrees Celsius and the weather is ideal for water sports and swimming. From May to September, the conditions are ideal for cycling and for excursions or hikes.

In midsummer, the water warms up to a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius and above. Guests with small children can also cool off on the beautiful beaches at this time of year. The sun also shines for seven or more hours a day.
