Special features of camping at Schluchsee

Schluchsee is the largest lake in the Black Forest and a popular destination for nature lovers and campers who want to combine their holiday at the lake with activities such as hiking, swimming and water sports. The lake offers numerous beautiful stretches of shore, which are lined with various leisure facilities: Pedal boating and rowing, surfing and diving are just some of the options at Schluchsee, with most campsites located near the well-known holiday resort of Schluchsee or in the immediate vicinity of the lake. From here, the beautiful wooded surroundings are perfect for exploring, for example on the popular circular lake trail that leads around the lake. Another popular destination for active holidaymakers is the famous "Schluchtensteig" long-distance hiking trail through the southern Black Forest or the nearby Feldberg - the highest point in the Black Forest at 1493 metres. The months of July and August are ideal for swimming holidays. Due to the altitude, the Schluchsee is still comparatively cool. Dogs are allowed on many campsites. However, there are no designated dog beaches on the lake. In the high season, it is advisable to book well in advance at the campsites, as the Schluchsee is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Baden-Württemberg.
