Campingplatz Sonnenwiese (Vlotho)

We stayed there for three nights and were satisfied with everything. Operator, staff all good. Very clean sanitary facilities, only the many bushes urgently need to be trimmed. Large sunny pitches.

I join the negative reviews, we booked a pampering week (370 euros plus electricity). The pitch is small, private bathroom so so..., to the bathing lake, completely neglected pond. The pool... was okay but unfortunately at 37 degrees NOT covered, hot and stuffy inside, at 5:30 PM it was locked, very unfortunate in this weather. Kiosk not open (statement; people come in, look around, and leave again without buying anything, so we don’t have to open. Reception open only from 10:00 AM, but it could also be that the lady at the reception is out on a bike on patrol around the site, so it’s a matter of luck. Absolutely worth mentioning is the restaurant on site, tasty food and very nice owner. Even the long-term campers are not pleased with the owner. Conclusion; neglected site, too expensive, not recommended. AND there is no WiFi.

Better to keep your hands off! The place is okay, but the owner is really an unfriendly and rude person who hasn't understood that as a customer, you leave your money with her. By the way, payment is also exclusively in cash, which I don't find modern. The place itself is okay, the sanitary facilities are fine, but the warm shower costs 1 euro for 7 minutes of warm water with pretty weak water pressure. The shower token needs to be inserted outside of the cabin, so you don't have the full time available. The pool is quite nice, but there are excessive warning signs and prohibitions here and everywhere on the site. It can be done differently. The barrier system at the entrance and exit is a nuisance, doable for large vehicles or trailers, but difficult. Playground facilities for children are okay, dogs are allowed, but not particularly welcomed.

I had reserved a pitch via pincamp for 35 € and received confirmation. Upon arrival, there was no one in the office. We were guided to a pitch by the operator via phone. A little later, she appeared and asked for an additional 7 € on top of the already transferred 35 €, because we were on a "comfort pitch" (water had, however, been shut off), which she had assigned to us. Electricity and shower had to be paid extra. After one night, despite the agreed time, there was no one on site again. By phone, she demanded an additional 5! kWh of electricity = 4.50 €. There was no receipt, nor was there an invoice. Overall, a rather high amount for one night in March. Very far from the washhouse, not sufficiently illuminated in the dark. Overall, not recommendable!

The campsite has a dreamy panoramic pool, is located directly on the Weserradweg, very clean and well-maintained throughout the area, stylish bathhouse, also private bathrooms at the pitch. Friendly reception! - Restaurant very tasty and good portion sizes. Fresh rolls available daily at the campsite. Many attractions and nice little towns in the immediate vicinity.

We can only advise against Campingplatz Sonnenwiese. The manager is such an impertinent person, something we have never experienced in our long camping years. With her, one cannot finish speaking but is constantly interrupted with cheeky comments. Actually, the guest is king, but she probably doesn't know that. The woman should take a course on how to deal with guests. The location is nice, but we will never come back, or the site is managed by new operators. The cleanliness and maintenance of the grounds leave much to be desired. The electricity price of €0.95 per kilowatt is total rip-off. Our evaluation from conversations with several long-term campers has been confirmed, and one should simply ignore that person.

Miserable price-performance ratio. Very expensive place with many additional costs, price would only be justified by the appropriate service that is missing here. Neglected green areas, very tall grass, so the children cannot play on the playground, many play equipment are broken, toilet paper is often empty, one washroom is very old, another is okay. Unbelievably rude owner, you don't treat your fellow humans like that. The 'swimming lake' is a puddle. The place is beautifully located, with a different owner the place would have a lot of potential, what a pity. The pool is quite nice, but a wrong floor was laid, making the risk of slipping extraordinarily high. Unfortunately, it is unsuitable for older people. Warning: the barrier system closes prematurely and causes damage to vehicles.

We were back at Sonnenwiese after 12 years. Once always well visited, this year almost empty. 2 nights for 2 people with WW cost almost 80 euros. Way too expensive.
