When camping in the Bregenzerwald, guests discover the natural side of the popular holiday region south-east of Bregenz. On hikes in the Glatthorn Group or the Mittagsfluh, active holidaymakers may be lucky enough to see rare ibex and eagles. Rides on the historic Wälderbähnle railway or a visit to the wildlife park in Feldkirch are among the highlights for families. Dog owners can also enjoy a relaxing holiday on walks with their four-legged friends through the beautiful countryside.
The campsites in Schetteregg at the foot of the local mountain Winterstaude at more than 1,000 m altitude are the perfect destination for a varied active and family holiday. Nearby, the Bregenzerach and Subersach streams invite you to splash around. Nature lovers will also find well-kept campsites in Riefensberg in the Nagelfluhkette Nature Park.
A nature and culture holiday can be perfectly combined at the campsites in Bezau. From here, holidaymakers can drive to Vorarlberg's capital Bregenz in just 30 minutes. Modern campsites in the Bregenzerwald also invite you to enjoy a carefree holiday in the fresh air in the Großes Walsertal biosphere reserve. The region boasts more than 40 mountain peaks and 47 mountain huts.
Compared to other holiday regions in Austria, the Bregenzerwald receives an above-average amount of precipitation. It is therefore worth taking rainwear with you when camping in the Bregenzerwald. Just in time for the summer season on the campsites in April, temperatures of up to 13 degrees Celsius are perfect for hiking and mountain biking. The nights then remain largely frost-free.
The sun shines particularly often from June to August, with seven to eight hours a day. This is when the air warms up to a maximum average of 23 degrees Celsius. Even in September and October, the weather is still pleasant for excursions. This is when the leaves in the holiday region turn magnificent shades of orange and yellow.
