Romantic valleys, gentle mountain ridges, deep forests and the sparkling blue of the water. It is not without reason that Titisee is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the Upper Black Forest for nature-loving campers. The wonderful landscape is a true paradise for active holidaymakers who set off from here on exciting excursions into the beautiful low mountain range landscape. Thanks to the good water quality and excellent leisure facilities, Lake Titisee is also a popular destination for bathing holidaymakers and families with children in southern Germany.
Lake Titisee is located in the southern Black Forest and is known throughout the region as one of the most popular leisure lakes in southern Germany. The largest municipality is Titisee-Neustadt with its famous Seestraße, which invites you to stroll and relax with marvellous views of the lake. The campsites are mainly located on the opposite side of the lake. With numerous bathing opportunities and the extremely popular Black Forest bathing paradise, Lake Titisee is an ideal holiday destination for campers who want to spend a lot of time by the water. Many campsites are located directly on the shore and offer access to the water. There are also numerous opportunities for water sports enthusiasts, such as diving or windsurfing. Those who prefer something a little more relaxed can go on a boat trip or explore the lake on a pedalo. Dogs are allowed on many campsites on Lake Titisee. However, there are no designated dog beaches. On the quieter parts of the lake outside the villages, however, it is no problem to let your dog off the lead for a quick refreshment. The surrounding hiking trails that lead into the low mountain ranges are perfect for long walks with your four-legged friend. The same applies to active holidaymakers and cyclists, who will find plenty of opportunities to experience the wonderful nature of the Upper Black Forest up close. The Black Forest also stretches over 150 kilometres and is ideal for extended tours with a motorhome.
The facilities at the campsites around Lake Titisee are excellent. In addition to pitches for caravans and motorhomes, mobile homes, holiday flats and other rental accommodation are often available on the sites. Due to the popularity of Lake Titisee, it is highly recommended to book well in advance - especially in the summer months.
With its friendly, peaceful atmosphere, the Bankenhof campsite is a popular holiday destination for families. In addition to the parcelled pitches in beautiful natural surroundings, there is a large tent meadow that also offers enough space for family tents. Lake Titisee is around 5 minutes' walk away. Delicious regional dishes are served in the cosy restaurant. There is also a small but excellent wellness centre.
The beautifully situated Sandbank terrace campsite offers spectacular views of Lake Titisee from its eight terraces. The Titisee circular route runs right past the site, so Titisee-Neustadt can be reached quickly by bike or on foot. There is a bathing area near the campsite and campers with dogs are very welcome.
A dream for nature lovers and water rats. Many pitches are located directly on the shores of Lake Titisee, and there is also a private bathing beach and boat hire. There is also a residential park opposite the campsite where cosy holiday homes and flats can be rented. The boathouse has a small restaurant serving local specialities. The well-stocked shop has everything you need for self-catering.
There are some wonderful places around Lake Titisee that campers can explore during their stay. The main town in the region is the lively municipality of Titisee-Neustadt, which is a popular destination for day trips, especially thanks to its famous lakeside promenade with its many beer gardens and small shops. A highlight for water lovers is the nearby Schluchsee, which is considered one of the cleanest bathing lakes in the entire Black Forest. Nature lovers should definitely visit the small village of Hinterzarten: Here you will find fantastic opportunities for hiking, for example in the famous Ravenna Gorge.
Titisee-Neustadt is the largest municipality in the region and the first port of call for many visitors. The famous Seestraße promenade is a wonderful place for a stroll. The numerous souvenir shops are the perfect opportunity to buy a souvenir from the Upper Black Forest, such as a new cuckoo clock or typical Black Forest ham. The lido with its large sunbathing lawn and heated swimming pool is popular with bathers. In bad weather, a visit to the Badeparadies Schwarzwald is a good idea. Lake cruises depart from the landing stages on Lake Titisee. Active holidaymakers and hikers can set off on the 7-kilometre circular lake trail.
The neighbouring Schluchsee is the largest lake in the Black Forest and is considered the destination for bathing holidaymakers in the region due to its particularly clean water. Water sports enthusiasts also get their money's worth here, as there are many opportunities for fishing, diving, surfing and sailing. A popular destination for families is the Aqua Fun outdoor pool with its 100 metre long giant slide and a large adventure playground for children. The picturesque landscape around the lake invites you to go on extensive hiking and cycling tours. A particularly idyllic viewpoint is the Amalienruhe on the northern shore of the Schluchsee.
The "Black Forest pearl", as Hinterzarten is affectionately known, is a tranquil little village surrounded by beautiful nature and is well worth a visit, especially for nature lovers. The mountainous landscape around Hinterzarten is characterised by dense forests, clear mountain lakes and wide meadows. The Hinterzarten high moor is particularly attractive. There are countless opportunities for hiking here, with the mysterious Ravenna Gorge being a favourite. An insider tip is a visit to the old rapping saw on the local trail around Hinterzarten. In summer, Hinterzarten also offers a rich cultural programme with concerts, readings and festivals.
Still have some time after your camping holiday at Lake Titisee? Then we recommend a road trip by motorhome through the enchanting south of Germany. One particularly beautiful route is the Upper Swabian Baroque Route, which leads to the most magnificent sights from the Baroque period in the German Alpine foothills. The tour starts in Ulm with its famous cathedral. From here, it continues to picturesque little towns such as Laupheim and Biberach, where visitors can admire some of the most beautiful market squares in southern Germany. After a flying visit to the Allgäu, the route leads to Lake Constance. After a few relaxing days by the lake, the tour ends with a long loop back to Ulm. An unbeatable trip, especially in summer!
