The Friuli-Venezia Giulia region makes every camper's heart beat faster. Whether in the unspoilt countryside, near the impressive Dolomites or simply camping on the beach: holidays in this beautiful Italian place can be extremely varied. Camping with a dog is also possible here, so the whole family can spend their days off together and feel completely at ease.

Special features of camping in Friuli-Venezia Giulia

If you opt for a camping holiday in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, you are never far from the beach, sea, mountains and culture. There are also many family-friendly campsites with plenty of entertainment for the little ones and dogs are also welcome at most campsites. Once the right campsite has been found, this region has many interesting and impressive excursion destinations to offer, such as the peaks of the Dolomites, the fantastically clear lagoons and their coasts and, of course, the old town with its small alleyways and cosy restaurants. Many campsites also offer exciting hikes or cycle tours through the picturesque landscape, where you can discover the flora and fauna of the region.

Top destinations for campers

The Friuli-Venezia Giulia region has several beautiful destinations for campers. The beautiful coastal towns on the Adriatic, such as Monfalcone or Trieste, attract visitors with their marvellous natural landscapes and interesting sights.

Lignano Sabbiadoro

The seaside resort of Lignano Sabbiadoro is already known for its camping facilities, but also invites you to stroll and linger. Visitors particularly appreciate the beautiful cafés and small shops with Italian flair.

Monfalcone

The town of Monfalcone has an eventful history behind it and the evidence can still be admired today. The metropolis by the sea once belonged to the county of Gorizia and Gradisca and was therefore part of the Habsburg monarchy. The medieval castle complex and the memorials to the heavy fighting in the First World War are among the city's most famous sights.

Trieste

Trieste is the capital of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region and a popular destination for travellers. An eventful past and countless sights cast a magical spell over visitors. The old town, the stock exchange and the opera are a must-see for visitors, who can also explore the castles and museums. Trieste is by no means a one-day destination and should be savoured extensively as part of a city tour.

Best time to visit

The campsites in Friuli Venezia Giulia are at their busiest in summer, as this is when the natural landscape is in its full splendour and the high mountains are framed by a striking green blanket that offers a breathtaking view. It is also pleasantly warm here at this time of year, inviting you to take a dip in the sea or sunbathe directly on the beach. The weather here is at its best from June to August, making it ideal for an extensive camping holiday. The water temperature is also very mild and refreshing at this time. On the mostly balmy summer evenings, campers can also enjoy delicious Italian food in the old town centre.
