Connoisseurs are drawn to camping by Lake Neusiedl in one of Austria's most famous wine-growing regions: Burgenland. Active holidaymakers like to stop off at rustic wine taverns while hiking and cycling and fortify themselves with Seewinkler sheep's cheese or Steckerlfisch. Families spend carefree holidays at the well-maintained lidos or go on excursions, for example to Austria's largest adventure park in Sankt Margarethen.
There are numerous campsites on Lake Neusiedl in the immediate vicinity of the shore, which is densely overgrown with vineyards. Whether you opt for the west or east coast, the nearest vineyard is not far away when camping on Lake Neusiedl. The campsites in Podersdorf and Breitenbrunn are ideal for families, as there are lidos with gently sloping shores. Active holidaymakers like to book a campsite close to the 125 km long Lake Neusiedl Cycle Path, which runs around the lake on both the Austrian and Hungarian sides. An insider tip for nature lovers are the campsites in the Seewinkel National Park, which provides a natural habitat for storks, numerous species of heron, otters and bats.
Camping Oggau, Strandcamping Podersdorf, Storchencamp Purbach, Campingplatz Breitenbrunn and CamÖ Camping in Mörbisch make an excellent overall impression. The operators attach great importance to modern facilities with beautifully situated pitches with electricity, a children's playground and modern sanitary facilities. Participation in numerous leisure activities in the natural paradise is possible from almost all campsites.
Often right on the shore or at least in the immediate vicinity, there are several campsites for travellers with a motorhome, caravan or tent on the lake.
Camping Oggau with its pitches on a flat meadow in the shade of numerous deciduous trees is just a few minutes from the lakeshore. Guests have a wide range of leisure activities to choose from. In addition to the neighbouring outdoor pool, there is a children's playground, tennis court, beach volleyball, bike hire and a jetty with moorings. However, the Oggau campsite is dominated by permanent pitches.
Strandcamping Podersdorf am See with its own surf school, a mobile home estate and boat harbour is a generously designed site with a large number of pitches with electricity. Supply and disposal for mobile homes is of course guaranteed without any problems. The seasonal pitches also offer plenty of options for spontaneous guests and clearly outnumber the permanent pitches. The beautiful beach and sunbathing lawn at Strandcamping Podersdorf are popular with bathing fans.
The Storchencamp Purbach, the Breitenbrunn campsite and the CamÖ Camping in Mörbisch are beautifully situated campsites with many positive features. In combination with the local motorhome pitches, the campsites leave a very positive overall impression on campers and the operators are highly appreciated for their commitment.
Pannonian climate characterises the weather in Northern Burgenland. The region is characterised by strong temperature differences between the seasons: While in summer, temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius provide perfect conditions for swimming, in winter it is often freezing cold. With an average of 61 summer days with temperatures above 25 degrees Celsius, Lake Neusiedl is one of the friendliest regions in Austria. There is almost always wind on Lake Neusiedl. The strong breezes usually come from the north-west and provide water sports enthusiasts with ideal conditions for surfing and sailing. Due to the shallow water depth of 1.5 metres, the water warms up quickly in spring. During the summer months, you can swim at a pleasant average temperature of 25 degrees Celsius.
