Camping in Milan

Our visit to Milan, the fashion capital, began at the Duomo, the city’s impressive Gothic cathedral. I especially enjoyed the view over the city from the rooftop. You can access it through the entrance at the side. Afterwards, we walked through the pedestrian zone to Castello Sforzesco, Milan’s castle, an impressive historic building. We ended our day in the Naviglio district, where many restaurants line the canals. The atmosphere there feels almost like Venice. We stayed overnight at a campsite in the suburbs, from where the city centre is easily reached by bus and metro.

My tip: The Last Supper, Leonardo da Vinci’s famous mural, is located in the former monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie. Tickets are often fully booked weeks in advance. Alternatively, you can visit it as part of a guided city tour.
