Öland is known for its vast landscapes and long summer days, and it offers a completely different perspective on Sweden. The northern part of the island, in particular, is beautiful and, in our opinion, one-of-a-kind.

My tip: Byxelkrok in northern Öland. This little town has a small harbor, a charming café, and a truly great fish smokehouse. Life here is even more peaceful than it already is in Sweden. Nearby is Böda Sand, one of the country’s most beautiful beaches—kilometers long, with fine sand, and perfect for a relaxing day by the sea. In the summer of 2026, we spent an unforgettable day here on the beach. Simply breathtakingly beautiful!
