Narbonne-Plage is the perfect place for camping by the sea. Just a few steps away from the motorhome pitch, holidaymakers can jump into the azure blue water and enjoy a long swim. The region is also ideal for water sports. Surfers, kiters and sailors get their money's worth here. The destination is also known for its naturist campsites.
Narbonne-Plage is the beach resort of the French town of the same name in the hinterland. Located in the south of France, holidaymakers enjoy their time between the Mediterranean Sea and the brackish lagoons of La Berre. The terrain is ideal for taking your first steps in sailing and surfing. Away from the coast, the wetlands of the Narbonnaise en Méditerranée wildlife park tempt you to go on excursions on foot or by bike. In the nearby Pyrenees and the Haut Languedoc, rugged gorges and mountain landscapes await travellers. In terms of culture, Carcassonne with its medieval fortifications and Perpignan's Mallorcan royal palaces are particularly worth a visit.
Travelling by motorhome, you first head to the south-west of Germany and then across France towards the Mediterranean. Holidaymakers can head for the neighbouring country via Saarbrücken or the Black Forest, for example. The A6 and A5 motorways offer convenient connections. In France, tolls must be paid on the motorway. You can pay conveniently at the toll booths on the slip roads.
Holidaymakers can make a stopover in Alsace. Medieval half-timbered towns such as Colmar await visitors here. Strasbourg with its Gothic cathedral is also worth a visit. In the Vosges Mountains, you can go on hiking trips over the beautiful hills.
In France, the A36 motorway leads to Dijon and the A6 towards Lyon. After a stop in France's second largest city, holidaymakers take the U7 to the Mediterranean coast and continue on the A9 to Narbonne-Plage. The stew is prepared with various types of fish, seafood such as mussels, langoustines and prawns as well as fresh herbs from Provence. Another well-known dish from Narbonne and the Languedoc is cassoulet, a savoury stew made with beans, mutton, pork and sausage. To round off a meal, treat yourself to goat's and sheep's milk cheeses such as Perail, Pelardon or Crottin de Chèvre. A Catalan-style crème brûlée is recommended for dessert. Wine connoisseurs favour regional varieties such as Fitou, Corbières and Minnervois.
