If you want to discover more, head to smaller towns in the surrounding area. Well-known excursion destinations include the surrounding towns of Karlskrona, Sölvesborg and Karlshamn, which attract many visitors every year with their museums, cosy cafés, town festivals and markets. The nature reserves are also worth a visit - in particular Northern Europe's largest wildlife park, Eriksberg, where campers can observe bison, mouflon and wild boar in their natural environment.
The climate in the south of Sweden is mild, with temperatures only dropping below freezing at night in the winter months. Camping is possible all year round, as some campsites in Blekinge are also open in the winter months. However, restrictions should be expected in winter, particularly with regard to limited daylight and water temperatures. While the latter reach a pleasant 14 to 17 degrees Celsius in the summer months, they drop to just 2 degrees Celsius in winter. If you want to go swimming, you should therefore only arrive from mid-June or July. The ideal time to go camping in Blekinge depends on the preferences of each camper, but the period between June and September is generally recommended.
