Camping in Cagnes-sur-Mer

Cagnes-sur-Mer is a small town on the French Riviera close to Nice. We spent a week there during the beginning of September and it was the perfect late summer getaway, as it was still super sunny and warm but less crowded and touristy. In true Côte d’Azure fashion, the beaches consisted of white round pebbles and the water was crystal clear and a deep turquoise colour. Take a hike up the hill to visit Haut-de-Cagnes, the adorable old town village with its many little alleyways and a spectacular view from Grimaldi Castle, and make sure to eat fresh seafood at one of the many amazing restaurants in the town, most of which are really good price for value. Plus, many popular destinations like Nice, Monaco and Cannes are quickly and easily reachable from Cagnes-sur-Mer.

My tip: If you’re fascinated by art, visit the Musée Renoir, which is situated in his former estate where he lived at the beginning of the 1900s. Here, you can admire many of his paintings and sculptures as well as some of his personal belongings and the beautiful garden.
