Carcassonne is a popular stop when my husband and I travel through southern France. The medieval fortified town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Cité with its castle is protected by a double wall with 52 towers, stretching for three kilometres. We enjoy strolling through the narrow streets once the day visitors have left. Not far from the centre, there is a campsite.
My tip: You can visit the castle and the ramparts. The view from the top is fantastic.
