During our motorhome trips through Normandy or Brittany, my husband and I always enjoy making a stop in Cancale. This small town has plenty of charm, and the beaches in the region are beautiful. We especially enjoy strolling along the harbour promenade and tasting fresh fish, oysters, mussels and other delicacies. There are many restaurants and bars to choose from. At low tide, you can see the oyster beds in the bay and watch the work being done there.
My tip: A truly special experience is buying oysters directly at the quay. The fishermen’s wives sell them by the dozen. They are enjoyed casually on the stone steps by the sea – with white wine or champagne from the nearby stall. It doesn’t get much fresher than this.
