Castel Camping Parc de Fierbois

I was on my way and ended up at this campsite. I had to pay €74 for my small tent, which is absolutely ridiculous. I didn't have much choice since it was already around 9 PM. I walked around the campsite and took a shower. The latter was not really clean either. Also, there was a (swimming) lake nearby. I spoke with some people who told me that not much swimming happened because it was muddy and smelled bad. If you want to camp tightly with many Dutch people and pay a lot, then this is the place for you.

Pros

Welcoming staff, great location, lake, pool, good selection at the supermarket, though prices are a bit higher than at other campsites. Location/rental accommodation: well-shaded and relatively flat. Well-maintained, nature is abundant, which is the main appeal of this campsite.

Cons

The number of loungers. We often had to wait to find one available or in good condition; some have sagging fabric, making them uncomfortable.

Pros

The spots are very spacious and located in a forest. Beautiful! There is plenty to do for the children and relaxation options for parents. Site/Rental accommodation: Beautiful large spot with good facilities at the location.

Cons

For one night we had to pay 145 euros, of which 45 euros were extra costs (service, reservation, etc.). Additionally, we were asked to stand at a transit spot near the entrance without trees (despite having booked a few months prior). Only when we indicated that we would prefer a wooded spot (as shown on the website) did we receive this location. Site/Rental accommodation: no bad feedback.

Pros

Nice campsite, the camping area is very beautiful, really captures the camping feeling among the trees. We were there with kids, and they had a great time. Plenty to do in the surrounding area. Pitch/Rental accommodation: Spacious mobile home. Comfortable mattresses. It's nice that there's a little garden attached. Large pitches and plenty of privacy.

Cons

Cleaning details, both in the garden and the house, need more attention. The staff drives very fast around the campsite with the golf carts/cars. We were hesitant to let the kids ride their bikes alone. Pitch/Rental accommodation: Cleaning could be done more carefully. Both inside and the garden need better maintenance. Before going inside, we had to clear away some nettles that were growing through the wooden terrace.

Cons

The cleanliness of the sanitary facilities was lacking. And the huge noise every evening from the entertainment at the bar. Terrible. I will never come back. Standplaats/Huuraccommodatie: The access to the path. There are tall hedges that make it difficult to get through with the caravan.

Pros

The lake is a real asset: a place out of time + the supermarket is very large and really well stocked with very friendly staff. Location/Rental accommodation: Very spacious and shaded plot.

Cons

The welcome was a bit chilly. Location/Rental accommodation: The plot was located at the very back of the campsite (therefore far from everything) and 95% of our neighbors were Dutch, making communication impossible.

Pros

Swimming pool, entertainment, location of the houses Pitch/Accommodation: The location was great. Plenty of shade under the trees. Large terrace and the chalets were big enough.

Cons

Toilet facilities at the pool area are truly necessary. Chalet maintenance is needed. Sunshades near the chalets and screens for the windows. Pitch/Accommodation: The maintenance of this chalet. I paid over €4000 for a premium house, but the floor was broken, causing the doors not to open and close properly. No screens for the windows meant a lot of flies. Large spiders as you could see through the gaps in the house. Such a pity because it is really a beautiful park!

Supervised pool, but the slide is very dangerous as no rules are followed. Inflatable games are also dangerous as there is no supervision. Too many people at the pool, lifeguard almost useless, snacks too expensive and disgusting. Location/Accommodation: No wastewater drainage Price way too high
