If you are looking for Puget-sur-Argens on the map, you will find it halfway between Cannes and Saint-Tropez. The tranquil little town is located slightly inland, which is why campers can start the day in comfort away from the crowds of tourists. The mild mornings can be used for trekking tours or a visit to the zoo. In the afternoon, it's usually off to the dream beaches or to one of the amusement parks.

Special features of camping in Puget-sur-Argens

Most of the campsites in Puget-sur-Argens are surrounded by unspoilt nature with vineyards, meadows and forests. In the hinterland, first the hills and then the Estérel mountains begin, where hikers and cyclists feel very much at home. The region is also ideal for a family holiday; on the one hand, there are many amusement parks and, on the other, the sandy beaches of the Côte d'Azur are only a few kilometres away.

Interesting and world-famous cities such as Saint-Tropez, Nice, Fréjus and Cannes can be reached quickly by car. Not only do the rich and famous sunbathe there, there is also plenty of culture and history to discover. Naturally, holidaymakers will find excellent restaurants serving typical French dishes everywhere.

Travelling

Depending on where in Germany campers are travelling from, they choose different routes. The shortest route from Hamburg is around 1,490 kilometres long and leads via Würzburg, Lindau, Savona and Nice. Alternatively, there is also the option of travelling via Cologne, Luxembourg, Lyon or Karlsruhe and Lyon. The distance from Munich to Puget-sur-Argens is around 840 kilometres via Garmisch-Partenkirchen, St. Moritz, Milan and Nice.

If you don't want to drive via Switzerland from south-east Germany, you can also reach the south of France via Innsbruck, Bolzano, Lake Garda and Savona. Tolls are payable in Austria and Italy as well as in Switzerland and France. Motorhomes with two axles need a Go-Box on board in Austria.

On the way to the south of France, holidaymakers pass through beautiful areas of Europe. As the routes are relatively long, regular breaks and possibly even overnight stops should be planned. Campers can use this opportunity to get to know great cities and fantastic landscapes, for example in the Alps, or to cool off in waters such as Lake Garda.

Best time to travel

Holidaymakers can travel to the Provence-Alpes-Côtes d'Azur region, where the campsites in Puget-sur-Argens are located, with their caravan or motorhome all year round. From the end of March, the weather is pleasant and stable as the mistral winds weaken.

From April onwards, temperatures are around 20 degrees Celsius, about twice as high as in Germany. In the summer months, the thermometer often cracks the 30 degree mark. There is also hardly any rain from mid-June to mid-September, which is why active holidaymakers and bathers feel very comfortable. Even in September and October, it is often still over 25 degrees and sunny, so nothing stands in the way of hiking and cycling tours.
