This water paradise in Poland is just a stone's throw from Germany. The Masurian Lake District begins just over the border, which, with its large lakes and extensive waterways, is in no way inferior to the Mecklenburg Lake District on the German side. Camping by the lake with children and dogs is possible almost all year round in this unique landscape.
Camping in Warmia-Masuria is particularly popular with water sports enthusiasts. Beyond the coast - but not very far from the Baltic Sea beaches - the Masurian Lake District is an ideal area for fishing, canoeing, swimming and relaxing.
Most of the campsites in Warmia-Masuria are located right by the water. They are feel-good places for single travellers, couples and families who enjoy swimming in natural lakes and appreciate an exceptionally peaceful environment during the day and at night.
In the evenings, the deciduous trees rustle, the frogs croak and the water ripples on the small campsites. In addition to boat and bike hire, there are children's playgrounds, beach volleyball courts and, of course, a bathing beach. The pitches are usually located on well-maintained meadows. Campers can set off on water hikes from most campsites.
With an average daily temperature of 7.5 degrees Celsius, the climate in Warmia-Masuria is considered mild and lies on the border between a continental and oceanic climate, meaning that it tends to be warm in summer and very cold in winter, sometimes down to -20 degrees Celsius.
Overall, the weather is very similar to that in Germany. The months of July and August are rather dry and, with temperatures of up to 23 degrees Celsius, are particularly recommended for camping in Warmia and Mazury.
Almost all campsites are open from March to October and are closed in the winter months. The water temperatures in the Masurian Lake District are a pleasant 18 degrees Celsius in the summer months, and up to 20 degrees Celsius on the shore.
