Camping in Santiago de Compostela

Northern Spain is one of our favourite destinations to explore by motorhome. My husband and I often return to Santiago de Compostela. The city is shaped by the pilgrimage route and filled with people from all over the world. At its centre stands the great cathedral with the remains of the saint. Masses are held here, during which the large incense burner is swung through the church. In the surrounding old town, the restaurant windows display local delicacies, from cheese and mussels to impressive cuts of meat.

My tip: You can climb onto the stone roof of the cathedral. From the top, you have an incomparable view over the city. The ticket also includes access to the museums and the richly decorated Romanesque Pórtico da Gloria.
