Good spot for visiting Santiago de Compostella. Reservation recommended! If you don’t want a very small pitch, you should also arrive early in the day. Top sanitary facilities. Everything is very clean. Important note for trailer drivers: don’t navigate with Google Maps, it leads you over a road that has a gradient of about 16% at the end. My Multivan just managed to take the 2 tons of the caravan up, but you don’t want to experience that twice. Instead, head for Praia de Espania. Follow the signage from there. DO NOT drive over Avenida do Camiño Francés! On the campsite itself, it also goes steeply up again, but that is still doable.

The price in the NS for 2 people without electricity and camper is €62.00. So far, this is by far the most expensive spot since he has been here for 8 weeks. Shower houses partially closed. No discount for ADAC or Asia.

Very friendly staff at the reception. Tall trees, shade, tight but adequately sized parking spots, sanitary facilities are okay, costs are a bit higher but within the range of prices for tourist hotspots. Carrefour very close by, good bus connection with line 4 to the center.

The reception was very friendly and could speak several languages fluently. Special requests were taken into account - we had to leave early in the morning and the night watch was informed. We were given a spot near the exit to avoid disturbing other campers. The plots were rather small but sufficient. Sites were sheltered by a canopy of leaves. Sanitary facilities were adequately clean, with room for improvement. The city center is reachable on foot (about 2 km). Good bus connections available. Huge mall within 5 minutes walking distance. Conclusion: solid campsite for a city visit.

Sanitary facilities good, but relatively small spots. With our folding camper, we already had problems finding a sufficient parking space. But the staff were very friendly and helpful. The 2.9 km to the cathedral partly follows a Camino trail. For a visit to Santiago de Compostela, we would always return to this campsite!

I can agree with my predecessor, beautiful place, somewhat small plots, but ideal for city sightseeing. A large mall is also nearby. The toilets were very clean. Reception very friendly and helpful.

Good location on the slope. Quite steep. About 2 km from the cathedral. It is a hilly town. The plots are terraced and some are very small. Often, you just park between two trees with barely a meter of space on the left and right. There is free choice of spots. Due to the steepness of the area and the narrowness of the plots, you should choose your plot on foot in advance and not just drive in, especially not with long motorhomes or caravans. There is also hardly any turning space at the greywater area when all the plots are occupied. There are electrical points for every four plots. The sanitary facilities are new and nicely tiled. The toilets have seats, showers are sufficiently large, and there are one or two wash cabins per sanitation building. In the evening, many pilgrims arrive, and the check-in can take a while. Unfortunately, there are also parties in the area. At least on Saturday, there was loud music until deep in the night. This is a no-go and leads to deductions in the rating of the otherwise good site. Somewhat expensive. One person pays for one night with electricity in September 2021: 25.71 euros.

If you are planning a visit to the world-famous Santiago de Compostela Cathedral during your camping holiday, Camping As Cancelas, which is open all year round, is the perfect address for a visit to the city. Guests can reach the cathedral on foot in just 35 minutes, although they can also take the public bus. This stops just 50 metres from the entrance to the campsite.
Camping As Cancelas offers guests a total of 412 pitches, with 12 rental accommodations also available. The site is often praised by visitors for its exemplary cleanliness, making it one of the most popular places to visit in Santiago de Compostela. While parents plan their sightseeing, the children can play in the playground or splash around in the site's own outdoor pool on the very family-friendly site. Dogs are also welcome guests here so that the whole family can have a good time at the campsite. The campsite caters to the culinary wishes of visitors in a variety of ways. A bread roll service is available as well as a restaurant. The Brasería A Grella is known throughout the town for its excellent cuisine and is therefore not only popular with campers, but also with many locals. Naturally, Camping As Cancelas also offers Wi-Fi throughout the site, ensuring that all visitors can always stay in touch with their loved ones back home. Accessible sanitary cabins are available for campers with limited mobility. Those who like to be active on holiday will find what they are looking for on the multi-purpose sports field, where visitors can compete with other guests in a friendly atmosphere.
The most important sight in the neighbourhood is, of course, the world-famous city of Santiago de Compostela. The Way of St James leads devout Catholics from all over Europe on a pilgrimage to the town's cathedral, and campers at Camping As Cancelas can also walk the last few metres of this thousand-kilometre route. If the 35-minute walk is too far for you, you can also take a bus to the church. The friendly campsite reception will be happy to provide you with all the relevant information and city maps. Santiago de Compostela is also a varied excursion destination. A walk through the old town is a real experience for those interested in architecture and history, while gourmets can also discover a variety of regional specialities in the many Galician restaurants.
