Campsite close to the center. Daily, the reindeer walked across the site. Very impressive. Located directly by the water. No animation or frills.

We visited Alta as a couple with our motorhome. The largest municipality in Finnmark is not particularly beautiful, as the town was completely destroyed during the war. However, it is an important supply centre in Finnmark. There are supermarkets, campsites, several petrol stations and facilities to refill gas. Alta is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as rock carvings created by hunters around 7,000 years ago were discovered here. We visited them and saw depictions of boats, whales, reindeer, bears and more. In winter, visitors come to Alta to see the Northern Lights.

My tip: The Northern Lights Cathedral in Alta is clad in titanium panels. The interior, designed by a Danish artist, is also worth seeing. You can enjoy coffee and cake in the entrance area.
