My husband and I arrive in Dover with our motorhome when we are heading to England or Scotland. Not far from the harbour, you can take the road up to Dover Castle, which towers impressively above the town. We spent several hours exploring the historic buildings, walls and ramparts. A real highlight were the secret tunnels in the cliffs beneath the castle. During the Second World War, this was an important military command centre.
My tip: At Dover Castle, you can become a member of English Heritage. It’s worth it if you plan to visit more historic sites in the region.
