Poorly maintained and not recommended for families

Family stay in August 2026. Unfortunately, the camping experience was well below expectations. Our pitch was very small despite plenty of available land. Toilets were dirty, toilet paper wasn't reliably replenished, and there were broken lights and dirty ashtrays around the site. The shower block was closed for cleaning during the busy evening period, leaving us waiting around 90 minutes with our children. When we complained, staff walked away and said no manager was available. Check-in was also delayed by about an hour due to staff shortages. The site has a strong alternative/heavy-metal atmosphere, and we witnessed staff shouting at each other. We also smelled what appeared to be cannabis smoke each morning. Parents should be aware of a pond close to the play area which we felt was inadequately protected. Overall: poorly maintained, disorganised and we would not return

Awesome location, great people, super friendly, wild and highly recommendable. Cool hiking trails, sweet pond and skate ramp. Boards and e-bike rental, good regional food, great community concept. Check the homepage for events, it can also get wild and loud, but if not here, then where?

Simple. Different.

We regularly come to this place by now. Everything is kept very simple, but that's part of it. There is always something going on. Urs and the team are super nice. There aren’t as many endless rules as usual; you can enjoy the evening and tell stories by the fire. We love it.

Does not fulfill what the homepage promises

The campsite is located in a beautiful setting in the Black Forest, and the owner and staff are friendly and helpful. However, the campsite gives a scruffy impression. In the toilets, the grey water and camper toilet had to be emptied. Accordingly, the flooring looked quite dirty as a lot went wrong during emptying. In the toilets, no chemical toilet was allowed to be emptied. For this, one must drive to the next campsite or parking space!! What a demand!! The showers were old, with shower curtains, and there were cobwebs on the ceiling. The power supply was a disaster. There were electrical wires everywhere on the site, as there are only a few power boxes. The cake that was available for purchase was overpriced, costing 4.00€ and did not taste good. The BBQ was also disappointing for the price. Wi-Fi is only available at the restaurant.

Rip-off

Two years ago super nice and lovely, now: muddy ground (allegedly. grass planned for two years...), electricity 60m away! distance to neighbor 1m, bread roll service great at €1.30/bread roll, two rotten showers/gender, one sink for the entire site and no Wi-Fi - for the paltry €36.70/night/2 people... Rarely experienced such a rip-off - and all under the label alternative/extravagant! Too bad, nice idea but poorly implemented - rarely felt so ripped off!

More info about Zum Wilden Michel
The Zum Wilden Michel campsite delights music and culture lovers of all ages with the ideal compromise between a nature-loving camping holiday in the Black Forest and a wild party experience.
Party atmosphere in the heart of the Black Forest
Whether rock, brass band music, electro parties or theatre performances - there are events of all kinds almost every week. The cultural programme offers good entertainment and an exuberant atmosphere for every taste. Speaking of flavour - the campsite's own restaurant offers home-made, regional dishes and thus ensures that you are well catered for. There are also a variety of accommodation options - in addition to the classic pitches, holiday flats can also be booked. For a very special nature experience, bubble tents are also available, in which holidaymakers feel connected to the Black Forest through the transparent walls, while the heated ceilings guarantee a pleasant warmth. If you prefer a comfortable holiday in a motorhome but don't own one, you can hire the "Balu" motorhome.
A wide range of leisure activities near the Triberg waterfalls
There is also plenty to do during the day - sauna, jacuzzi and the hot tub offer the opportunity to switch off against a fantastic backdrop. Yoga classes and bingo evenings are organised regularly. Children can have fun in both a conventional playground and a water playground. Skateboards can be hired on site and tried out on a special ramp. The surrounding area is also full of opportunities: Numerous hiking trails invite you to explore nature. Those who prefer something a little more adventurous can hire an e-mountain bike at the campsite. The nearby towns of Linach and Furtwangen invite you to go shopping in the beautiful town centres. The Linach dam is a popular excursion destination and Triberg, with its world-famous waterfalls and cuckoo clocks, is just a few minutes away by car.
