Stover Strand Camping

The Stover Strand International Kloodt campsite is idyllically situated on the tranquil banks of the River Elbe and is perfectly connected to the harbour city of Hamburg in a beautiful riverside setting. The great location, the tranquil surroundings and not least the long sandy beach make this campsite one of the most popular destinations for campers in Hamburg.

Camping on the idyllic Elbe beach

The Stover Strand Int. Kloodt campsite is located on the River Elbe in Lower Saxony. Right between Lüneburg in the south and Hamburg 35 kilometres away in the north-west, green meadows with scattered old trees stretch out on both sides of the Elbe dyke. The 30-hectare area on the south bank offers campers plenty of space to spread out and marvel at the container giants passing by.

Caravans and caravans park on the 200 parcelled and unparcelled pitches, each with an area of 100-130 square metres. There are also separate areas for tents, a motorhome park for up to 100 motorhomes on the other side of the dyke and a boat harbour with a slipway and parking facilities for trailers and vehicles. The pitches on the main site have a power supply with 200 CEE sockets as well as connections for fresh water and grey water, and gas bottles can be exchanged on site if required. Power points, water supply and modern sanitary facilities with hot showers are also available in the motorhome park. Stable WLAN is guaranteed throughout the campsite.

Campers without their own vehicle can stay in the cosy mobile home rentals or the beautiful Swedish-style wooden chalets. The rental accommodation on a well-tended lawn behind the Elbe dyke is fully equipped and has its own bathroom and kitchenette. Those who want a particularly exclusive holiday destination can stay in the lovingly designed vintage caravans. These luxuriously furnished glamping caravans have their own pitch directly on the banks of the Elbe and, with their own barbecue area and private beach section, are perfect for individual holiday fun with the whole family.

Dogs are welcome throughout the campsite. The extensive grounds with the many sandbanks on the banks of the Elbe are perfect for playing and romping around with your four-legged friend. However, travellers wishing to stay overnight in the rental accommodation must enquire in advance.

Leisure programme for the whole family

The atmosphere at the Stover Strand Int. Kloodt campsite is rather quiet. If you want to party, head to the nearby Reeperbahn in Hamburg. But that doesn't mean the campsite is boring - thanks to the extensive leisure programme, there is always something going on here.

Active campers can take advantage of the campsite's own bike hire service and the wide range of sports on offer, including beach volleyball, football, canoeing and horse riding. The site is also the ideal starting point for excursion boat trips and exciting boat tours into the beautiful river landscape or the nearby cosmopolitan city of Hamburg. Children can really let off steam in the site's own play area with adventure playground. In addition, the six-hour children's entertainment programme from Monday to Saturday in the high season ensures hours of fun and unforgettable experiences. For quieter hours with the whole family, there is a beautiful 500 metre long sandy beach with extensive sunbathing lawns right on the banks of the Elbe.

The Stover Strand campsite also organises a variety of events for young and old throughout the year. Easter bonfires in spring, barbecues and open-air cinema in summer, cooking workshops, tent disco, the Oktoberfest in autumn and the New Year's Eve party at the end of the year ensure that there is never a dull moment here.

The bread roll service provides crisp, fresh rolls every morning to ensure that your physical well-being is not neglected. Self-catering guests can stock up on food and other basic camping supplies in the well-stocked supermarket right on the campsite grounds. And if you don't want to cook for yourself, you can choose between the à la carte restaurant Stover Strand and the "UnsinkBar". The bar is in a prime location on a houseboat and offers a unique atmosphere, especially in the evening, when the sun is reflected in the twilight on the water of the Elbe.

Cycle through the Elbe floodplains to Hamburg

Whether on foot, by boat or by bike: Stover Strand campsite is the ideal starting point for exploring the picturesque river landscapes of the Elbe. The river meadows offer hikers a fantastic panorama for long walks. The famous Elbe cycle path runs right past the campsite. Along the picturesque dykes, cyclists can discover sleepy old villages, river wharfs and, with a bit of luck, beavers and storks in the Elbe marshes. The return journey is easy on the free cycle bus.

The harbour metropolis of Hamburg with its glamorous Alster villas is of course not far away either: the journey takes just half an hour by car. Thanks to its proximity to the Hanseatic city, the Stover Strand campsite is perfect for day trips, a visit to a musical, a city tour or a visit to Miniatur Wunderland.

Boat trips across the Elbe directly to Hamburg are also offered from the neighbouring marina. An unforgettable day trip for the whole family takes you to Heide Park near Soltau - the second largest amusement park in Germany is just under an hour away. One of the main attractions of the amusement park is Colossos - at 52 metres high, it is one of the highest wooden roller coasters in the world.
