What campers are saying
Summarized by AI
This campsite scores points with its two wonderful swimming lakes and a great beach bar, which instantly create a holiday vibe. Campers particularly enjoy the clean, modern sanitary facilities and the super friendly staff. Good to know for the trip: Anyone heading here should keep in mind that the Wi-Fi comes with a fee and is somewhat outdated.

Clean and well-maintained site – but extreme noise

The campsite is clean, well-maintained, and offers many activities. The young staff was also very friendly. However, this starkly contrasts with the behavior of some campers: joints were smoked, a couple was loudly having sex multiple times a day and at night in a tent among other tents, and unsupervised children were playing ball and moving through the toilet building. Loud music was played and sung until about 3 a.m. Sleep was hardly possible. At the reception, we were told there were no relevant rules and no night watch. Guests had to resolve the issues themselves. Nothing was done, despite the website stating a quiet time from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. We felt our complaint was not taken seriously, and we would not revisit this site despite the good facilities.

A truly fantastic recreation center! The entire facility is very clean and well-maintained, and the sanitary facilities are modern and hygienic. The swimming lake is beautiful and offers relaxation for both young and old. The staff was always friendly and helpful. There are many recreational options, and the atmosphere is simply great. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return. Absolute recommendation!

A fantastic place that is really spacious. We brought our dog and found it great that we could go for a walk right through the dog gate. The site was superb, the washrooms were very clean, and spot number 26 was modern and beautifully designed. Our son loved that there was a kids' bathroom. The only disappointing aspect was that you have to pay for Wi-Fi.

It was nice that it was relatively quiet at the edge of the campsite (rental property). Despite the nearby road and airport.

Having a holiday at the FCO is always fantastic. We've been coming here for 35 years. The campsite really offers something for everyone. Especially nice is the proximity to the Rhine, which is easily reachable by foot or by bike. The bathing bay is ideal for families with children. The site is very clean and well maintained.

The campsite is very beautiful, with sufficiently large pitches, old trees, and two swimming lakes. The sanitary facilities are modern and very clean. BUT: this site particularly attracts groups of all kinds on weekends, from family clans to children's and youth groups and partying and drinking men's groups. A campsite is certainly not a sanatorium, but it is also not a disco, a schoolyard, or a fair! Similarly, the noise level is problematic, and there is often little consideration for midday and nighttime quiet. The campsite management needs to control things much more and intervene if necessary. For us, the stay in June 2026 was unfortunately not as relaxing as hoped.

The campsite has everything to offer, from a beautiful lake, clean sanitary facilities, a mini-market, 2 restaurants, friendly staff, and much more. We stay at the campsite every year for about 5 weeks and feel very comfortable there.

More info about Freizeitcenter Oberrhein
The gentle loop of the Rhine on one side, the foothills of the northern Black Forest on the other: The wonderful location in the picturesque countryside of Baden-Württemberg makes the Upper Rhine Leisure Centre a real dream destination for nature-loving camping holidaymakers. Thanks to the huge leisure programme and two idyllic bathing lakes, the site is particularly popular with families and water lovers, who spend the best time of the year here.
Beautiful family campsite on the banks of the Rhine
Just a few steps from the banks of the Rhine, the Oberrhein Leisure Centre offers family charm combined with professional service. In addition to almost 500 pitches for permanent campers, there are over 300 pitches for short-term holidaymakers on the 36-hectare site. The spacious pitches are equipped with electricity and water connections. Campers without motorhomes or caravans can stay in rented caravans, mobile homes with their own terrace and fully equipped bungalows or holiday homes. The modern sanitary buildings at the Oberrhein campsite offer family bathrooms, changing tables, washing machines and dryers. There are also two restaurants on site serving Baden specialities and Italian delicacies. There is also a self-service market for everyday necessities. Dogs are welcome on the campsite and must be kept on a lead. There are additional motorhome pitches with a waste disposal station in front of the barrier.
Huge range of leisure activities for young and old
The campsite is open all year round and is particularly popular with families. The summer months are particularly popular. This is when the local bathing lakes invite you to swim and relax by the water. The Kriegersee lake, which is within walking distance, offers a wide range of water sports activities such as stand-up paddling and sailing. Hobby anglers can try their luck at the fishing pond and catch fish for dinner.
Sports facilities on land include beach volleyball, tennis, football and mini golf. There is also a large playground for the youngest guests to run around in. The Rhine lowland canal bordering the Oberrhein leisure centre to the south is ideal for a guided or individual canoe tour. Boats and surfing equipment can be hired directly on site. In the evening, entertainment shows with dance, music and theatre performances ensure a successful end to the day.
Excursions around Freizeitcenter Oberrhein
There is plenty to experience around the campsite, for example on cycle tours or a city trip to Strasbourg. Thanks to bike hire, camping holidaymakers can set off directly from the Freizeitcenter Oberrhein and explore the beautiful surroundings. One destination worth visiting is the city of Baden-Baden, just 20 km east of the holiday resort. Highlights of the spa town include the Fabergé Museum and the Museum of 19th Century Art and Technology. The Ebersteinburg circular trail, a 10-kilometre hiking trail through picturesque countryside that is easy to complete, starts to the east of the town. Another attractive excursion destination is Strasbourg, which is best reached by car from the Upper Rhine Leisure Centre. Located almost 50 km to the south-west, the French city enchants visitors with its historic half-timbered houses, the tanners' quarter with its picturesque canals and romantic flair.
