The idyllic archipelago of the Baltic Sea and a wealth of leisure activities for the whole family entice you to spend a holiday at First Camp Gunnarsö-Oskarshamn in the southern Swedish province of Småland. Open all year round, the campsite with caravan and motorhome pitches is located right by the sea in Oskarshamn. The town is primarily known as a ferry harbour to the island of Gotland, but is also an ideal starting point for canoeing and fishing trips as well as hikes through the surrounding wilderness-like forests. There's never a dull moment at the campsite with its summer entertainment programme, children's club, fitness courses and adventure golf course. Child-friendly beaches on the partly sandy, partly rocky shore invite you to swim. The bird-rich rocky island of Blå Jungfrun and the Bullerbü village of Stensjö By are great for a day trip.
The campsite at Emån, which is considered the cleanest fishing waters in Europe, attracts not only anglers to southern Sweden.

We were at this campsite from July 1st to 3rd. It is a super beautiful place. We were received and served very kindly at the reception. We had booked for one night, with the option for a second night. Unfortunately, it didn't work out with the second night at the same place. Even though our motorhome was still on the spot and we hadn't paid yet, our place was rented out again. In the evening, when we returned from our walk from Oskarshamn, there was actually a caravan on our pitch. The staff then asked us to clear the site. Until now, we always thought that as long as the place is not paid for and the motorhome is still there, the place is not free. We were very disappointed and the staff did not apologize even once.

We were at the campsite for two nights at the beginning of August 2022. We had booked the site just one day prior, as there were no more spots available on the island, only newly established "premium sites" near the cabins. These sites were created simply by pouring a piece of tar on a flat area and placing a pole with electricity and water. Overall, the location is not bad, right in the middle of a pine forest and fairly quiet, but it is quite far from the island with all the "attractions" (swimming area with diving board, kids club, bounce pillow, playground, restaurant, pedal boat rental, reception with shop and bread roll sales (no pre-ordering possible for non-Firstcamp members)) and the new sites were set up before the sanitary facilities were upgraded, meaning that all the new sites (as well as the already existing sites outside the island and the few cabins without their own bathroom) have to share one men's and one women's toilet. For men, there wasn't even an extra sink outside the toilet area, so brushing your teeth meant blocking the toilet. Since there is one sauna each for men and women, it was often super warm and stuffy in the building. The showers are side by side and fully visible. Currently, the only place to wash dishes is on the island. Everything is supposed to be built, but the order is simply not correct. Additionally, you pay more for the "premium sites" than for those on the island. There is a marked hiking trail leading to Oskarshamn, but the town does not warrant a trip; there isn’t even a single postcard from the town (we went to many places and asked everywhere because we wanted to send one to an Oskar). Conclusion: it must be quite lovely on the island in good weather, but our site wasn’t worth it under the current conditions.

The lady at the reception sent us to the wrong seat (it was already reserved) and then called us stupid. The place itself is very good and well-maintained.

Super beautifully located natural site. Sanitary facilities are excellent. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. In terms of location, the most beautiful place we have visited in Sweden so far.

First Camp Gunnarsö-Oskarshamn is located in the south-east of Sweden, on a small island connected to the mainland by a road, and offers the perfect camping holiday for families in particular.
Wake up and be surrounded by the sea - that's how holidaymakers start their day at the First Camp Gunnarsö-Oskarshamn campsite. Guests can choose between pitches of various sizes or camping cabins, which are also available in different sizes and with different facilities. The location right by the sea is ideal for sunbathing, swimming and various water sports. For example, pedal boats, SUP boards, canoes and rowing boats are available for hire. There is also a 10-metre high diving platform and an adventure mini golf course. Anglers will be delighted by the variety of sea fish and crabs. There are separate beach areas for children and a small pool with seawater for toddlers. Children can have fun with Yessi, the campsite mascot, as part of the entertainment programme and adults are also entertained with various shows in the evenings during the summer. The campsite also has a bistro and a camping shop that provides guests with fresh bread rolls, groceries and camping accessories.
The beautiful Swedish countryside is best explored on foot or by bike. Just a few minutes by bike from the campsite is the town centre of Oskarshamn with its characteristic colourful Swedish houses. There are plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants to browse and linger. Of course, you should also visit the ferry harbour, from where guests can set off on exploratory trips to various islands. The long beach promenade is also particularly beautiful and is ideal for long walks accompanied by the sound of the waves.
