Campingplatz Heidkoppel

A great place right by the dike. There are mostly permanent campers here, but obviously, the spots that are given up are becoming spots for motorhome users. We had such a great spot. The roll service at the supermarket is excellent. The way to the beach is super short, right next to the bike path, so you can quickly get to California or Schönberger Strand. The new washhouse and the bike shelter are great too. For those traveling with children: the playground is small and more suitable for children up to school age.

The toilets are okay for about an hour after cleaning. The freely accessible beach is nice and very clean. For children, there is a playground next to a soccer field. Both are regularly closed due to quiet hours. Apart from that, there are no leisure activities within walking distance. For shopping, there is a poorly stocked mini-store that is closed during lunchtime and early evening. The advertised Wi-Fi works but is only usable near a wash house with limited functionality. There, you have reception, but no data throughput. Mobile reception from all providers is also very poor. LTE reception is low and also usable with very little throughput. There are frequent outages. There are no places with water connections, but at least there is weak electricity supply. The site is good for seniors or someone looking to unwind for a few days. However, it is not suitable for active people on vacation.

The beach and the sanitary facilities are excellent. However, the playground is hardly suitable for toddlers (swing basket, etc.). There is no catering available on the site. A snack bar was indicated, but it will not be open for the time being.

This place is just great Everyone is very friendly. The place is kept very clean. We have already made a new booking. Everything is well organized there.

The leisure offer is ridiculous, the fenced children's playground is closed during lunchtime! It is more of a senior facility than a holiday site. The advertised snack bar is closed for this year. Where this campsite gets its stars from is a mystery to us. The only plus point is the close location to the beach and the sanitary facilities.

The Heidkoppel campsite is perfect in many ways: 1. Its direct location by the sea 2. The beaches are usually only lightly visited, which results in the fortunate situation that you cannot park directly near the beach with a car. However, visitors to the campsite can find a very professionally designed parking lot with a barrier and automated payment system at very fair rates. 3. The Heidkoppel campsite is run absolutely professionally; the showers and toilets are always in a very clean condition, thanks to the fantastic cleaning staff working hard. 4. The individual buildings are regularly modernized. 5. On the campsite's sports field, there is a snack bar that, for example, offers very delicious burgers. Unfortunately, I must agree with the very dissatisfied long-term camper. The waste containers are difficult to open/close for older and also petite campers. The times for waste disposal are generally not adhered to. Thus, the peace for the sites near the new waste disposal area is gone. The laundry from one of the washing machines needs to be washed again, as it smelled unspeakably bad after the first wash. Great, when you first have to replenish your coin supply for the machine. The washing machines should also be cleaned at some point. Unfortunately, the toilets are regularly completely filthy. Some fellow campers and beach visitors cannot behave here. Shortly after cleaning, which is done twice daily, the toilet experience is tolerable. The advertised Wi-Fi is a joke. It is hardly accessible at the site. Here, one should possibly also check the functionality when evaluating, not just the presence of a Wi-Fi SSID. When one addresses these points, they are more likely to be laughed at. You do not feel taken seriously. At other places with a comparable star rating, you even have water, possibly also sewage at the site. Currently, the location by the dyke speaks in favor of the site. Otherwise, there is an urgent need for improvement.
