Camping Valkenburg - Maastricht

From the very start, the reservation process was friendly and attentive, as was the straightforward check-in process. The sites located under the old trees are spacious and evoke the character of a park. There are also sunny spots, which seem predominantly used for motorhomes (gravel parking areas). The sanitary facilities were cleaned twice daily and were always kept clean. During our visit on an extended weekend, the capacity might have been slightly limited, but this hardly counts as a drawback. The beautiful rural surroundings with gentle hills invite hiking and cycling. The nearby highway was hardly audible, and overall, the site is very conducive to relaxation, so what more could one ask for?

We just spent 2 nights on-site (November 17-19, 2023) to visit the Christmas city. The two young men at the reception were very friendly and immediately apologized during check-in for the ground conditions after the rain and for the fact that - attention! - you can't get anything to eat in the restaurant. BUT there was at least a bread roll service you could register for. The paths are mostly bumpy. The spots for motorhomes had a solid surface, while the caravan spaces were exclusively grassy, which became a disaster for us upon arrival and even worse upon departure: at arrival, the car got stuck in the mud, and at departure, we just managed to get the caravan out with the mover and some muscle power. During the three days, our shoes were constantly muddy! You can find several reviews on Google pointing out this problem. It's incomprehensible why the site management does not change anything about the pitches or prepares them like the motorhome pitches... with a solid ground! The chemical toilets are disposed of in a strange open construction IN FRONT of the sanitary building directly on the path - impossible! The sanitary facilities were very clean and stocked with toilet paper! Conclusion: A fair-weather site (unless you enjoy mud battles), with friendly staff, clean sanitary facilities, and a lot of room for improvement. A maximum of 3 stars… rather well-intentioned 2 stars.

We were two with a dog for an extended weekend there. Check-in was okay. The site was not prepared, 10cm high grass, partly deep trenches from the maneuvering of the predecessor. In front of the water station was a muddy lake, as it was unpaved. Wastewater station (already too much said) a square funnel for gray water and chemical toilet where it runs out on the sides when pouring and that directly at the main access and playground. Trash bins, non-existent. As a dog owner, you obviously want to dispose of the poop right away. The site generally gives an unkempt impression. Designating the pitch as a comfort pitch, without water connection and wastewater is already underground and the price is therefore absolutely unjustified. The pitches are pleasantly shady due to high trees. That’s all that’s positive.

We only used this place as an overnight stop on our way back. Very well-maintained facility with very modern and clean sanitary facilities. Staff are absolutely friendly, large parking space. Somewhat difficult is the arrival or finding the place, which may of course also depend on the GPS, very friendly people nearby are happy to help with appropriate tips. The place was obviously previously called De Bron.
