Family campsite with plenty of animation for children - quite far from the beach. The sanitary facilities are also aging and on weekends (Fri-Sun) the site is overrun by Spanish guests, with a very high noise level throughout the site :-( At night, there is almost no path or other lighting, perhaps this is different in the high season... So I definitely cannot share the 5-STAR rating from ADAC here - at most 3 stars, since on our trip we saw many smaller sites with fewer stars, which would always deserve one star more compared to the Sylvamar.... We're looking for an alternative.

Beautiful facility with a wonderful, well-maintained recreational pool for all age groups. Here, it is possible to let the young ones run free, as there is a number of supervising staff present. The entire facility gives a well-kept impression. The pitches are spacious and large. The sanitary facilities are partly modern. As is often the case in France, the cleaning staff lacks attention to detail. The staff on the grounds are helpful and friendly. The restaurant made a good impression. We dined at the neighboring restaurants. Recommended. Nice bike tours are possible - also to the nearby beach. Staying with dogs is also recommended. Walking them is not a problem. Access for large mobile homes & trailers is also not a problem.

Bad: Water and light installation in the sanitary building in very mediocre condition, sometimes there is no hot water in one cabin, then in another only hot water flows, no cold water, sometimes the light in the cabin doesn't work, etc. Water in the showers has hardly any pressure, it's impossible to stand under the stream, it falls down so close to the wall. No possibility to place personal items, e.g., shower gel. The water jet at the faucet in the men’s toilet is a joke. Why it is not possible to have door locks with "occupied" signs will remain an eternal French mystery, you always have to try all the doors during peak business hours. Not enough showers during rush hour, especially for the women when they go in with two or three children after swimming. The ADAC rating for the sanitary facility is completely off, at most three stars. The pool facility in the HS is massively overcrowded, there is no pool supervision, jumping is done from all sides in all pools despite the ban, it is impossible to swim even 2 meters. Lighting of the paths is completely inadequate. At the end of the season, the lighting was even turned off when only a few parcels were occupied in the section. Public announcements only in French, not even in English. The path to the beach from our parcel is 1.7 km!! Good: Baked goods in the shop at the site. Toilet paper dispensers are very good, toilet disinfectant is also available in every cabin. WiFi at the site is excellent, even for uploads. Waste disposal facility is very good. Since it apparently isn’t possible to evaluate here twice separately, I will supplement here. I was there again this year, as well as my children. Period: 2017-08-10 to 2017-09-14. Unfortunately, just more negative points can be added to what was said in 2015: No changes to the criticized points whatsoever! The water in the sanitary Andalus drains very, very poorly, as a result, edges form that you cannot eliminate even if you want to, the next user thanks you. The problem seems to be systemic; at the sanitary facility where the drain is located in front of the grill, the water also does not drain, after rain it stays there for days! The doors to the washing cabins are still a faulty design; they are exactly as large as the cabin, and you can hardly enter because they leave hardly any gap between the door leaf and the sink when opened. We requested a sunny spot without trees. The only such spot was right in front of the turbine room of the spa. Just imagine: we booked for 6 weeks and received a spot that a) does not meet the criterion of sun without trees and b) is located in front of an incredible source of noise that at best could suffice for a passerby for one night! Why can’t they simply say we have no sunny spots left? Due to these supplements, I deducted points in organization and management and price-performance ratio. The site is now an absolute no-go area for us! A big mystery is why the site is repeatedly rated by ADAC as top, and now just again as a tip for 2017? Has the ADAC tester ever been there? Or does he have something going on with the manager down there?

With a large water park, the Yelloh! Village Sylvamar is a versatile campsite that particularly appeals to families with children and teenagers. The 5-star campsite on the Basque Atlantic coast of France has various slides, pools and water playgrounds on site. Close to the beach and surrounded by a dense forest area, the campsite is also suitable for dog owners and water sports fans.
On the edge of Labenne-Océan and north of Biarritz lies the comfortable Yelloh! Village Sylvamar campsite is surrounded by dense woodland and just over a kilometre from the wide sandy beach on the Atlantic coast. The stretch of beach in front of Labenne-Océan is not only suitable for sun worshippers and water lovers, but also for keen surfers. The small zoo of Labenne and a skate park are within walking distance - other attractions for families with children are on site. Spacious cooking and washing facilities as well as a restaurant and supermarket ensure a carefree stay at the campsite. The real highlight, however, is the 4,000 square metre lagoon adventure pool, which is used by young and old alike. Children's entertainment and a baby changing station also cater to the needs of young guests. Wellness facilities include a sauna, indoor pool, steam bath and various spa and wellness programmes. Spread over 27 hectares, the Yelloh! Village Sylvamar offers 242 pitches and 413 rental accommodations. Three pitch categories ranging from 100 to 150 square metres and bungalows in various price and comfort categories cater to the individual needs of visitors. The rural, flat countryside is characterised by beautiful, extensive wooded areas. Romantic small towns such as Ondres or Toulenne invite you to take interesting sightseeing tours. The golden sandy beach of the Atlantic coast in the west stretches for around 150 kilometres from Biarritz in the south up to the beautiful bay of Arcachon. About 5.4 km east of the Yelloh! Village Sylvamar, holidaymakers will find the "Réserve Naturelle Nationale du Marais d'Orx" nature reserve. Extensive reed beds surround a natural lake area and allow for relaxed excursions. The Basque Country, just 30 kilometres away on the French-Spanish border, offers visitors interesting cultural and gastronomic highlights. Cities such as Biarritz, Bilbao and San Sebastian are absolutely worthwhile destinations for a day trip.
