Beautiful spot. But not with a camper van!

September 2023

This review is not easy to write. On the one hand, I couldn't get a good impression of the spot and on the other hand, I do believe that the spot is fundamentally nice. The contact with the operators was good, everything worked out well via email. For better understanding, here is the following: We inquired via email about a spot for one night at Lake Garda, wanting to stop there on our way home since my mother was in a vacation apartment there. I had specifically mentioned the size of our camper (7m) because I know the "hills" in Brenzone and had already thought that we might have difficulties parking there. I mentioned the 7m twice. "No problem," was the reply. We should pay a deposit of €50 (via bank transfer). Well, according to the price list on the site, the €50 was over the price we would have paid for one night in the low season. But okay, we would certainly get the rest back in due time. Finally, the day came and we arrived. Well, already on the driveway, we knew that this wouldn't work. Everything was well organized and they were already expecting us. But: Just stopping the camper at the reception: Phew! No idea how that is supposed to work with 7m. But okay. I asked again: Do we really fit? 7m? No problem. A friendly staff member showed us the only free spot (we left the camper reluctantly parked with the handbrake engaged somehow across the driveway back). No chance of parking there. Olive trees that would have certainly scratched the roof of the camper on the way there, etc. Hardly any room to turn around, etc. The nice employee: "Your car is beautiful but too big." Okay. I then spoke with the lady at the reception that we don’t fit. Okay, no problem (again). The €50 deposit (too much for the actual low-season price) would be refunded to me. My IBAN was noted. No cash available. We left (I don't even want to start talking about the maneuvering in the driveway). There was no nice evening with Mom. To this day, I haven't received the €50 despite having inquired via email twice. Surely a good spot for small campers, vans, and tents. Unfortunately not for us despite the explicit inquiry. A lesson learned.
