Camping Le Vele

Great, well-maintained place. Clean, new sanitary facilities. Only the Wi-Fi does not work.

The site is located directly on Lake Como just outside of Domaso, a good location for water sports enthusiasts. Unfortunately, the picturesque setting with the lake and Alpine panorama is not very visible from the site. The view of the lake is mostly blocked by a building and in addition, the site is bordered by a high chain-link fence (as are all neighboring sites). Adjacent to it is a lift station for boats with a rather industrial charm. The site itself is not divided into pitches and was still very tightly packed even in the off-season (early October). There are times when it is "blocked", meaning one has to cross the pitch of their neighbor to get in and out. The access paths to the pitches are very narrow, making it difficult for vehicle combinations with caravans. On the positive side, the service is very friendly, the breakfast buffet, the pool and the wellness area (not tested by us) and very clean and modern sanitary facilities.

My wife, who speaks perfect Italian, and I wanted to spend the week from July 13 to July 21, 2017 at this site with our caravan. We had previously contacted the campsite via phone and email. Everything seemed clear. When we arrived there on July 13, we were informed that the booked site 18 was only available for 1 night, as it had been reserved for someone else. Since the site was fully booked, we had to "move." I was extremely angry. Only after significant pressure did the person at the reception reluctantly pick up the phone and try to find another spot for us. We ended up spending the rest of our vacation after 1 night at the "Europa" campsite (not listed in the ADAC camping guide). Our "neighbors" at site 11 told us that they had to stay in their car for 1 night until their site became available. In this age of computers and technology, it is completely incomprehensible to me how something like this can happen, especially since my wife understands and speaks the local language. The entrance for a trailer over 13m is criminal. Even then, when you detach the caravan and maneuver with the mover. We then "had a farewell" the next day without paying anything. Conclusion: The management is miserable. If a mistake is made, one should be friendlier and more accommodating. Stay away from this site.
