We have been going to Hourtin-Plage for many years. We love the very large pitches and that there are no strict rules about how to park. You stand beautifully in the pine forest. For us, it’s a familiar smell every time. The site is family-run and many employees have been there for years. Marie-Jeanne is always a particularly great contact person for us! The pitches do not have their own water supply. The washrooms are unfortunately older and need renovation, and sometimes the water is not really warm. However, the washrooms are always clean and are regularly maintained! You can quickly walk to the beach, but we also really enjoy going to the lake. The new swimming pool and the new playground are great. There’s a lot going on for kids. In the covered area, the water could be a bit warmer - especially on cooler days. Many guests come back every year.

We were here again this year after about 7 years. Not much has changed during this time. Large plots, clean sanitary facilities, and a huge swimming area that is certainly good for families with children. I just wonder where you should lie down; I didn't see any sunbeds. The showers are equipped with a sink each, which is generally good. However, you can only hang your things on one hook, and you should cover this with a towel and bring another towel for drying off, because the one for covering gets wet afterward. So: design flaw! But it was already like that back then. A real cheek is the price for Wi-Fi: €15 for 3 days in a... quality, extremely slow. Only one device can be connected at a time. It could be better and cheaper. The beach is not far away and very beautiful. Real shopping opportunities are about 15-20km away. So make sure to stock up before you go. We used the place as a stopover for 3 days, which is fine. I wouldn’t spend a vacation here.

The positive first: The pitches are all large and located under trees. The facility is kept clean. The playgrounds are very diverse. The supermarket has everything you need. From our point of view, we assess the following negatively: - The sanitary facilities are very old. The showers and toilets are very small. In the showers, you can hardly turn around. Showering with a small child is a challenge. - There is generally too little hot water. The water pressure leaves much to be desired. - There is no toilet paper. - The pool area is great, and the photos show loungers, but these are nowhere to be found. For 5 stars, we expect not to have to sit on the concrete floor. And last but not least: the sandy beach and the sea are wonderful!

We arrived as a family (child 5 years old) with a camper and stayed for 9 nights. The reception was very friendly and multilingual (also German). We arrived very late without a reservation and were guided by a guide to some available pitches. We could choose our pitch from the selection. All pitches have either a rocky or sandy ground. We chose a rocky standard pitch in the left area of the campsite near the ocean and the pool. The pitch had an electrical connection (about 20m away). There was no water connection or drainage for gray water at the pitch. This is somewhat limiting because once you have decided to stay, you are reluctant to pack everything up just to fill up with water and empty gray water. We used empty water bottles to fill the water tank. Next time, we will bring a canister. Handling the gray water turned out to be a bit more difficult. We occasionally poured a little out with a bucket and dumped it at the toilet cassette disposal area. Washing hands, brushing teeth, and washing some fruits and vegetables is enough to fill the gray water tank over the duration. So we limited ourselves here and made stronger use of the facilities on site. We were quite satisfied with the pitch. The campsite itself is very large and dominated by mobile homes. There are also some caravans and many tents. The sanitary facilities were clean due to Corona. Teams of four were on duty all day long and continuously cleaned. Nevertheless, we were not completely satisfied with the facilities. Everything is a bit dated and exudes a 90s charm. The toilets occasionally have no toilet seats and there are no toilet brushes to be seen anywhere. The showers are usable, but in the same outdated condition as the toilets. We didn't find it very disturbing, but it is not worthy of a 5-star site, especially since the price per night is clearly in the 5-star segment! The bar/restaurant is OK and very fairly priced. Entertainment is also good. There are plenty of options for kids. Playground, climbing tower, beach volleyball court, and a child-friendly pool area with slides and water games (you can clearly see where investments have been made). The pool area itself, aside from the children's area with the water games, is also outdated and not very suitable for lingering. There are no loungers, and the concrete areas are not very inviting for lying down. It is good to know that you can only enter the pool area without shoes (including flip-flops) and only with tight-fitting swim trunks (for men). Bermudas and shorts are not allowed. Children under 1.03cm are not allowed to enter the water play area. The small shop on the campsite has everything for small purchases. Larger purchases should be done in advance. An alternative shopping option is only available in the town of Hourtin (about 14 km away). The small vegetable shop outside is more suitable for fresh items. The beach is stunningly beautiful and also the main reason for our visit. The beach is fine sandy and very extensive. There are no shaded areas, so you need to bring your own umbrella or something similar. We stayed for the beach and would probably visit the site again.

A great campsite for families. Very clean, safe, many play opportunities for children. Unfortunately, there are fewer and fewer pitches for tents and caravans and more and more mobile homes. Many shady places.

Very close to nature, friendly staff, clean restrooms/showers (cleaned several times a day), prices as usual in France (thus higher than, for example, in Germany or Italy or Austria or the Netherlands). Many recreational opportunities in the surrounding area. Outdated swimwear requirement (due to the possibility of sand entering the pool, you are only allowed to enter it with swim trunks, not with swimsuits, etc.) We will definitely go back. It was really great.

A huge pool area with slides and imaginatively designed play areas as well as a wide range of sports and entertainment activities promise families and beach holidaymakers a varied holiday on the Atlantic coast.
Camping La Côte d'Argent is located in the south-west of France in the Gironde department, right on the Atlantic coast. Campers can choose from 615 spacious pitches for motorhomes and caravans under shady trees on the 20-hectare hilly site. The pitches are characterised by a paved surface and offer an electricity connection on request. Peace and privacy as well as socialising with your camping neighbours are possible here. Emptying facilities for waste water and toilet cassettes are available. The five modern sanitary blocks with various washing facilities such as individual cubicles, children's toilets and baby baths cater for all needs. Campers will find everything they need for a comfortable camping holiday in the supermarket. The restaurant serves national and international delicacies and a variety of dishes, either to enjoy in the stylish ambience on site or to take away. In the adjoining bar, a creative evening programme with concerts, shows, dance or games evenings takes place in the high season during the summer holidays. The tropical bathing area with four pools, nine water slides, a children's island and the Aqua Pirates water play area covering over 1000 m² promises extensive bathing fun for the whole family. During the high season, the miniclub provides a varied entertainment programme. Camping La Côte d'Argent offers active guests a wide range of sports activities, state-of-the-art sports facilities and various sports courses.
Countless possibilities for activities in, on and around the water: the main beach of Hourtin de Plage is only a few metres from the campsite and is ideal for surfing and kitesurfing in the Atlantic or for sociable beach sports on the wide sandy beach. For those who prefer less swell, Lake Hourtin is 4 kilometres away and offers calmer bathing waters and the largest natural lake in France. Dog owners and their four-legged friends can enjoy a fun-filled holiday on the dog beaches next to the main beach. The well-developed network of cycle paths invites you to cycle along the coast. Bikes can be hired directly from the campsite. Europe's largest travelling dune is not far from the campsite. The ascent to the over 100 metre high "Dune de Pilat" near Arcachon is rewarded with a fantastic view of the Atlantic and the vast forests of the interior.
