Camping Hemmelmark

Prime location in nature. If you love to be awakened by birdsong in the morning and to wind down in the evening, this is the perfect place for you. We greatly enjoyed our stay. Those who remember camping from the 60s/70s and 80s will feel 'very comfortable' here. If you're looking for 'posh,' you are definitely in the wrong place.

There are already several reviews for this campsite. Therefore, I would like to focus only on our impressions. The access road is a well-graveled path with sufficient width, which is also good to drive on even when wet. Since there are also pedestrians, cyclists, and joggers here, the speed should be adjusted accordingly. The site made an unkempt impression on us. The grass is not mowed and is therefore wet all day long at this time of year. Bushes are not trimmed. One has to search for the electricity connection box in various places. Some water points were out of order (tap lever) removed. The paths on the campsite show numerous potholes where, after a rain shower, very large puddles can form. Some pitches can only be used to a limited extent after heavy rain due to the formation of puddles. Getting stuck is possible. There is no toilet paper available in the toilets. You have to bring your own. Some toilets also do not have a toilet paper holder. Unfortunately, this is not mentioned on the campsite's website.

It started with the access road, the gravel path is a hardship for any car and caravan/motorhome. The pitches are very rustic (uneven), dogs are not allowed near the water on the entire site. The dog beach is about 2 km away, which means a walking time of 15-20 minutes, simply unacceptable. One wonders why one even has to pay for dogs. The sanitary facilities were okay. So we will not be vacationing there again.

It is a small but natural place. I have known it for many years and am always there. Right on the Baltic Sea. Now there are plans to build there, let's see what becomes of it.

Clean place with a clear plot structure. Directly at the natural beach. Sufficient plot sizes. Wash houses simple, functional, and clean. Large playground. We would be happy to go there again.

+ no shower tokens, so always the possibility to take a shower + playground for children on the camping meadow - very unfriendly staff - sanitary facilities seem to have not been properly cleaned for quite some time - dogs are the clearly more welcome guests; from early morning barking and dog mess on the camping meadow - in the entrance area, a sign points to the leash requirement for dogs - on the entire premises, which is only sporadically adhered to. There are always visitors who do not comply and let their dogs run free. Thus, you hear loud barking throughout the day, of course also during the midday quiet hours. - Access is an imposition for any vehicle.
