What one must commend about Camping Erbenwald is that there is something offered for the children. The new indoor playground is really top-notch, the playground is great, just like the outdoor swimming pool. A big minus goes to the sanitary facilities, which are far too old and broken; hot water is only available for 50 cents, which is unacceptable. Just like the electricity price of 90 cents per kWh, which is completely out of line, and the fact that you can only dispose of waste twice a day for one hour. If you are camping there, you have to keep your waste with you for several days. The Black Forest and its surroundings offer some activities, but overall Camping Erbenwald is not recommended, unfortunately, we will not be coming back.

A few points are improvable. We were there with two children, for whom the new huge indoor playground was great, as well as the swimming pool and the adjacent playground. Unfortunately, the indoor playground closed at 6 PM, but especially after dinner the children would have liked to play there a bit longer. It should at least be open until 8 PM; perhaps this is planned for the future. The restaurant "Campingstüble" is cozy and one can sit there nicely, however, it did not taste very good. It seems that not much is cooked fresh, but rather a lot of convenience food is used. At the swimming pool, there is a kiosk with drinks, ice cream, fries, etc., which is great. Unfortunately, we were not informed upon arrival that there is no longer a self-service shop, and the 50 cents for showering were not mentioned. Unfortunately, we then stood there with two freezing wet children from the swimming pool in the shower and had to go exchange money so they could take a warm shower. Because of the lack of a shop, we would at least suggest placing a refrigerator with the essentials at the reception, as there are vacationers who have no opportunity to easily go shopping. Moreover, it is still mentioned in the information brochure of the place that there is a shop. We paid just under 120€ for two nights, which is quite hefty. The place needs to improve a bit, especially regarding the upkeep. All in all, however, we had a nice and relaxing stay.

The approach with a large trailer is adventurous and in places very narrow (construction site). Once arrived at the top, we were warmly welcomed and allowed to choose a spot. The ladies and the manager were very patient and helpful. The better and, from our perspective, more beautiful spots were occupied by permanent campers; which we found unfortunate. The available tourist spots were next to the construction site or right next to the sanitary building including smells and noises. Neither relaxing nor beautiful! In addition, most pitches are very uneven. Since there were very few tourists and permanent campers present during the first few days, it was pleasantly quiet. On Friday and Saturday, the permanent campers arrived. Some of them did not adhere to the night quiet hours or to respectful behavior! Unfortunately, the night quiet hours were not enforced. A lot of alcohol was consumed and loud talking and laughing went on until the early hours of the morning! The sanitary facilities are very outdated and were not cleaned regularly. The available toilet paper was a disgrace (too thin and sandpaper-like)! This campsite is ideally located for hiking with a dog. Caution, a lot of ticks! The electricity price of 80 cents per kilowatt is rather expensive. We found it very unfortunate that there was no flat rate for electricity. Our conclusion: If the night quiet is adhered to and also enforced, the sanitary building is renovated, and there are fewer permanent campers on the tourist site, we would be very happy to come back.

Unfortunately, overall too expensive. In the tourist area, sometimes there is no juice TV reception possible. Unfortunately, there are no pitches with TV connections. Wi-Fi is free for 30 minutes per day, if it works. When the place is full, the bandwidth is far from sufficient. Downloading a daily newspaper took almost 20 minutes. The sanitary facilities are already older and unfortunately were not cleaned regularly. Showers cost 50 cents. There is no grocery store on the site. The snack bar (new tenants) only has a very small menu. Waste disposal is only possible twice a day at set times. It's a shame, but unfortunately, the price-performance ratio is not right. The site itself is very beautiful and the surroundings are great.

The operators are nice. And a great playground and plenty of hiking opportunities. The sanitary facilities are good, but they don't get cleaned. The toilets already had deposits that should normally be removed during cleaning. The trash can was emptied only once in a week and only the contents were taken out. The showers were also full of dirt, leaves, shower gel, etc., and many different hairs, and they were never cleaned....let alone the hallway. There is virtually no offer for children. Outside the area there were still free spots for passersby, but inside there are almost only long-term campers. This has absolutely nothing to do with camping anymore. Therefore, it is otherwise clean and tidy. The trash can only be disposed of twice a day at certain times. They just want to see money but offer nothing in return.

The price/performance ratio at this site is unfortunately absolutely inadequate. Our stall was located between a construction site and the sanitary building (from which every noise could be heard). The restaurant was closed. Rolls are only available from 9 AM, no card payments possible, and the sanitary building was not noticeably cleaned during the 3 days we were there.

But what good is that if the rest isn’t right? All around the area are old rusty power boxes, some of which are tipped over, and they can’t be locked as the hinges on the doors are rusted, so the doors can’t even open anymore. The sanitary facilities are clean but totally outdated (50 years old); if a toilet breaks, a new key is attached or it is locked. WIFI only works when it wants to, and it’s also expensive. At times, you get the feeling there are more dogs on the site than people; you just have to walk past the area and the barking starts, but not just one dog, at least five. Apparently, this doesn't bother the operator even when campers complain.
