The campsite was absolutely not our style. It is a very large facility, and during the peak season, both the outdoor and indoor pools are completely overcrowded. The quality of the water in the swimming lake does not invite swimming at all. It is a typical Dutch family holiday park that seems very overcrowded. The prices are typically Dutch - overpriced by German standards.

The dirtiest toilets I have seen in a long time. I did not find a single clean restroom during my stay. Although we informed the reception, there has been no soap in the bathroom for 3 days. In the sand at the indoor playground, we found a whole bag full of trash while digging for 1 hour with the kids. The swimming pool was also dirty, and the staff only chatted and did not clean, even though the pool was so full that you could hardly swim. Absolutely not recommended!!!

A waiting area is available for check-in with the camper. However, it is about 400 - 500 meters to the reception. Payment must be made upon registration. We paid for 2 days. After we ultimately only wanted to stay for 1 night (5 minutes walk from the reception), we were told that we would not get any money back (we did NOT make a reservation). The sanitary facilities are the typical container units. The shower pressure requires time to remove shampoo/soap from the body. The spot cost us € 103 (2 people/2 nights). Originally, they asked for € 110 and only after inquiring about our age did they give a € 7 discount (making a face as if we were being unreasonable for insisting on such a small amount). 50% of the pitch was neglected. The rest had freshly mowed grass. Charging € 55/night for such a spot is daylight robbery at its highest.

Very unusual for dog owners

The campsite is perfectly fine. The swimming pool is great. It is difficult with a dog. There is only 1 camping area that allows dogs. Accordingly, there are 1-2 dogs in each camper van or tent, which do not always get along well. The path from this area to the exit is MANDATORY, marked with signs, only this path is possible. There is a designated poop area with sand and a trash bin. Our dog hates sand and doesn't want to share the run area either. In the off-season, it's hardly a problem, but in summer it will surely be impossible. We will not come back here with a dog.

This is not a 5-star site

We wanted to spend a week at this campsite during the peak season this year, but left after 3 days. I can't understand all the positive reviews for the life of me. The lake called the "Tümpel" looks quite nice, but the water smells, it's not clear, and we even encountered a dead fish. I don't want my children swimming in it. The sanitary facilities are filthy and not clean, not renovated in 40 years. There is nothing to dry your hands with, and you better bring your own toilet paper. On the summer field, there are exactly 4 men's showers and 3 women's showers for about 100 campers... I would like to highlight the nice playgrounds and the indoor pool. But that's it...

Actually a nice facility but unfortunately has major shortcomings in cleanliness, value for money (especially gastronomy; frozen pizza for 10 euros?), layout (flooding), children's animation, buildings partly outdated, 80s charm. The new part with holiday homes is great. Many playgrounds and wave pool are also super, swimming pool is poorly organized (changing rooms/lockers). Dead corners on the site (e.g., old go-kart track without function). Overall, not necessarily a place to return.

Facilities at Recreatiepark De Leistert
The beautiful 100-hectare site offers holidaymakers numerous spacious pitches between 80 and 160 square metres in size. The park is divided into several sheltered areas by drainage ditches, trees and hedges, guaranteeing plenty of open space and privacy. Playgrounds, sports fields and the large bathing pond with beach are directly adjacent. The perfect setting for a relaxing family holiday!
Campers without their own motorhome will find a new home for their summer holiday in the Netherlands at the Buitenhof de Leistert holiday complex in numerous attractive rental accommodations. The idyllic holiday homes, chalets and wooden lodges are very popular. Those looking for something a little more adventurous can stay in a safari tent or a particularly comfortable glamping tent.
All pitches have electricity and water connections as well as the option of connecting a television. The well-maintained sanitary facilities offer individual wash cubicles, wash basins and showers with hot water. The launderette is located right next to the reception. Guests can also use WLAN throughout the site. The Mr Friet cafeteria, the sports café and the Grillo restaurant provide refreshments. Thanks to the table grill, guests can help themselves to the buffet and grill their own favourite meal directly on site. Self-catering guests can shop in the well-stocked supermarket in the campsite plaza. A daily bread roll service is also available for guests on the pitches and in the rental accommodation.
Huge range of leisure activities for the whole family
Recreatiepark De Leistert is one of the most popular campsites in the Netherlands, thanks in particular to the wide range of entertainment on offer. Guests can look forward to a varied holiday programme for the whole family, with something for everyone. Sports fields, children's entertainment and changing evening programmes ensure that there is never a dull moment on a camping holiday in the Netherlands.
Water lovers in particular are in the right place at Camping De Leistert. There are several small bathing lakes for water fun and swimming. Children can splash around in the swimming pond and build sandcastles on the marvellous sandy beach. There is even more bathing fun in the heated wave pool with water slide and other water games. And if the weather doesn't play ball, you can meet up in the subtropical bathing paradise with two swimming pools in a light-flooded hall. Sports fans also get their money's worth at Camping De Leistert. Active holidaymakers can go for a spin on the rowing pond, take part in a family duel of tennis, basketball or beach volleyball or use the bike hire service to explore the surrounding area. The idyllic fishing pond is the perfect place for those looking to relax while camping. Here, guests can cast their lines in unspoilt natural surroundings and hope that a mighty carp will bite.
Younger holidaymakers will love the creative club Het Klushuis, where the little ones can get busy making things. Playgrounds and numerous lovingly designed play areas on the campsite provide plenty of exercise: Here, children can let off steam to their heart's content on slides, swings and climbing frames. The large indoor play area and the La Selva Playground, which consists of wooden elements and is completely covered, are also unique in this form.
Explore Limburg by bike
The Netherlands is known to be one of the most cycling-friendly countries in the world. So it's well worth taking advantage of the campsite's bike and pram hire service and exploring the beautiful countryside on modern bikes. There is a cross-country trail right on the site near the fish pond, with hills and obstacles to perfect your cycling technique.
Ambitious cyclists are tempted by extensive tours through the province of Limburg, such as the 35-kilometre tour through the Leudal nature reserve, which leads past the St. Ursula mill, which is well worth seeing. A 14-kilometre hiking trail also leads through the fascinating meadow landscape. With a bit of luck, active holidaymakers can even admire rare kingfishers and tree falcons along the way. Water sports enthusiasts should also visit the nearby Maasplassen lake region.
