Camp Vira

Where to start when almost everything is different from what is described here. Let's put it this way, if it weren't for the beautiful landscape, there would currently not be more than 1 star here. It starts at the reception, stretches over the sanitary areas to the children's playground. Everything is in decay or in the final stages of deterioration. The playground and mini-golf area are a wreck, the kids' club does not exist, and the already unappetizing sanitary areas are cleaned once in the morning. Far too little for the overcrowded site. Which brings us to the next point. The plots are planned so tightly that one is heavily restricted in freedom of movement. You can hardly find paths without having to walk through someone's plot. The few paths that are available are also already badly damaged, which can be especially dangerous for children or the elderly in terms of tripping hazards. Speaking of hazardous spots, protruding manhole covers and shower rooms standing in water are also not exactly a plus for safety. Particularly disgusting for owners of a chemical toilet is the room that is also under fecal water. You have to wade through the possibly spilled feces from the previous user before you reach the drain.

On September 22, we wanted to visit the site. At the closed entrance gate, there was only a note stating that the site is closed for this season. And this, although the ADAC camping guide states 'Open 2021 until December 31' and the price list for 2022 also goes until December 31. Apparently, they open and close at their own convenience. Extremely annoying!

At first we were skeptical, now totally enthusiastic. The place is very empty in mid-June and has probably just started its season. Great spots with sea view, a quiet bay ideal for swimming and paddling. Staff very friendly, sanitation very clean. The shop is open from 08:00 AM to 02:00 PM, unfortunately the inexpensive beach bar only until 06:00 PM. In the neighboring bay, there are two more restaurants. It is two kilometers to Hvar Town. One should definitely have at least a bicycle or moped with them here. Overall a clear recommendation for those who prefer a quiet holiday. We will come back!

Camp Vira is quietly located in a double bay northeast of Hvar Town. The place is already a bit aged but still in good condition. It is important that the new tenant invests a bit. Restaurant recommendation in the bay: Konoba Ringo - great fish restaurant, definitely make a reservation. Fresh fish can be obtained from the fishermen in the next bay. Just turn right at the campsite and then knock at the cold storage. Great wolf fish, doradas, and tuna.

4 stars... well. Everything is somehow totally outdated and the team is completely disorganized. No idea what the guy behind the reception desk entered at check-in, but 30 minutes of button pressing is absolutely borderline. The beach bar is overpriced and the bay itself is dirty. Plastic waste and old boats can be found in abundance here. Very limited parking spaces and mediocre standards. 4 stars are completely out of place here. For me, there is no more than 2.

This place is by no means a 4-star. The pitches are untamed. The beach is very small and there is no view. The restaurant is very old and rundown. We will not come back here.
