Westernhof Osterwald

The campsite is now called Camping old Piccardie. We visited the site under both the old and the new name. Same owner. Back then, the site had just been taken over recently and many renovations were announced. However, the toilets and washrooms are still not in a satisfactory state. There is only one shower each for men and women. Just two sinks, with cold water only. Two toilets, but for men there is only one toilet and one urinal. The washrooms are without heating. There is an outdoor dishwashing facility, but it's not heated. No hot water available there. Thus, I lack essential things for feeling comfortable. The maintenance of the site is also just mediocre, with many nettles and a large, neglected pond. There’s nothing where our children can play alone without us having to worry.

Close to nature in every sense... a lot of nettles and neglected areas, large pond. Not really suitable for small children, as it is too dangerous without constant supervision. The sanitary facilities are not in an acceptable condition. For washing dishes... There is only one sink without hot water. There is still a lot of room for improvement regarding equipment and maintenance. The restaurant is okay, but often closed. The operator seems to be more focused on smoking at the computer than taking care of the site. The environment is noisy due to the industrial area and main road, often with smells from surrounding agricultural businesses. While it's inexpensive, I do expect a bit more from the sanitary facilities and maintenance of the site.

It is a very nice quiet environment. There is still space being constructed with a new name. The managers run the campsite and the restaurant. They make good offers. Price/performance is good. The managers are friendly and resolve small problems quickly.
