Sufficient free places. Check-in only possible via self-check-in & with credit card, even though 2 ladies sat comfortably at the reception! No cash payment possible!! Site allocation incredibly poor & clumsy, with a 3.10 m high motorhome it was impossible to get through and avoid low-hanging branches in the driveway. Site rebooking was also nerve-wracking and complicated! No shop available, the essentials could be obtained at the reception - but only until 7:00 PM. Next shop far away in the village. Well, not very guest-friendly. Restaurant closed in the evening due to an "event"! Dinner taken outside in the beer garden, just before the thunderstorm hit, sheltered. Food quality and selection leave much to be desired. Schnitzel unappetizing, cheese platter likewise. Fast food leaves much to be desired. Well, for the emergency it had to suffice.

For us, this has been the campsite with by far the worst price-performance ratio for years.

The camping site itself is nice. But cleanliness is not taken very seriously here. Paper for drying hands is rare. Toilet paper is often scarce too. The dishwasher looks especially terrible. Wi-Fi is virtually unavailable. The mobile network is also almost non-existent. The pitches are nice and the campsite is located in a quiet area. Unfortunately, the beautiful spots are occupied by mobile homes. I also find it outrageous to want to ban such reports.

The womohafen Absberg is good. Showers for families after swimming in the lake are way too expensive with the new system. Not family-friendly basic cleaning after swimming possible. 3.80 for 5 minutes with one child and one adult.

October 2024
In the first week of October, and despite the single-digit temperatures, the place is well frequented. The pitches are spacious and half grass, half gravel. We like it, because since it has been raining for several days, nothing stands in the way of a dry outing at the caravan, instead of the usual mud at other campsites. Quiet time, despite the busy days with children, from 8:00 PM you haven’t heard anything more. The catering on the campsite is closed, but it doesn't matter to us as we are self-sufficient. Leisure value is good, many cycling tours are on Komoot, walks and the places nearby are also nice to see. The reviews regarding sanitary facilities are not comprehensible for us. The showers are free, hot water endlessly, it is clean and the amount of toilet paper does not indicate that it is not being cleaned, which is not true. Vending machines in the digital age are okay for us!

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful campsite, where there was a beer garden with refrigerators. Unfortunately, this campsite has now become a 'Tinyhouse Hotel'. Now if they were really original Tinyhouses. No, they are mobile homes that apparently make up the main category of the site. I couldn't identify any service, no vending machines, no kiosk, and even the beer garden was closed. It's a pity, compared to the former state of the campsite, this is unfortunately nothing more than what has to do with true camping. The densely packed mobile homes have the charm of a barracks. On the positive side, we had a pitch for our camper with a private bathroom that was clean and everything worked. The pitch was nicely located at the edge of the site and was slightly sloped but could be leveled with wedges. The playground is still very nice.

Beautifully located site with slightly sloping terrain. One side densely packed with mobile homes, which were hardly occupied at least during our stay (the long weekend towards October 3rd), while the pitches were well occupied despite the high price. The sanitary facilities have clearly seen better days and are - judging by the large amount of toilet paper that was stacked in the cabins - not cleaned and replenished too often. Washing and drying costs 4€ each; I can't explain how the 16€ mentioned in one of the other reviews came about. The staff at the reception (I haven't seen anything else) were very friendly. The cashless concept does not really work, as all machines can only be used with coins or notes. The exception is the roll ordering for breakfast - here you can or must pay by card. I find the 1-star ratings inappropriate; the site is simply too beautiful for that. But you can feel the lack of care everywhere, whether in the sanitary facilities or the playground and the pitches, where there is quite a bit of litter lying around. On our pitch, there were many cigarette butts and crown caps. Regarding the rating: actually 3 stars, as it is far too expensive for the condition. There is also one star deduction because - unfortunately still everywhere - there is no protection against cigarette smoke. Especially here we had the dubious pleasure of having chain-smoking neighbors...

We have been here many times and really got to know the place as one of the most beautiful and highly recommended campsites in Germany. What has been made out of it by the new operator is, to put it mildly, a disgrace and an exclusion of all motorhome and caravan drivers. Beautiful pitches have turned into crammed motorhome camps that no camper can afford anymore. If someone does happen to stray there again, they will be charged heavily for the run-down sanitary facilities, etc., ensuring they definitely won't return. All the once well-functioning and cozy beer gardens, etc., were either closed or had severely reduced opening hours. Not to mention the lack of proper options to buy food on the site. In any case, we were there for the last time. I don’t think the change of operators has done the municipality of Pleinfeld any favors. The business tax will surely go down, and tourism at the once flourishing site will decline significantly. Such a shame.

Families with children and couples particularly appreciate the idyllic location near the Brombachsee lake and the extremely varied leisure activities on offer at Waldcamping am Brombachsee. When camping with a dog, you can enjoy long walks through the picturesque nature of the Franconian Lake District. Equipped with pitches for motorhomes and caravans, guests can alternatively spend the night in accommodation or on the camping meadow. With 3.5 stars from the ADAC, the campsite in Pleinfeld enjoys very good ratings on Pincamp.
The Waldcamping am Brombachsee campsite is located around 50 kilometres south of Nuremberg in Pleinfeld. The pitches on the 14-hectare site in the Franconian Lake District are surrounded by trees. Modern and clean sanitary buildings for campers on the pitches ensure a feeling of well-being on the site. The gas cylinder service and the problem-free disposal and emptying of camping toilets are a matter of course for the site. In addition to the 80 - 100 m² pitches for tents, motorhomes and caravans, mobile homes such as the cosy camping barrels or the charming Family Troll wooden cabins with their own kitchen are also available.
The beach is only 800 m away from Waldcamping am Brombachsee, making the site perfect for a relaxing holiday by the lake. The clean water is ideal for swimming and water sports. Active guests can also explore the beautiful natural landscape around the 5 km long reservoir by hiking or Nordic walking. Those who want to work off their energy directly on the campsite can use the trampoline park. The neighbouring Hotel Sonnenhof also offers great activities. It's not just adults who get their money's worth when staying at the Großer Brombachsee, but also the youngsters. The adventure playground, the varied children's entertainment programme and pony rides are all great fun. Waldcamping am Brombachsee has been awarded 3.5 out of a possible 5 stars by the ADAC for its facilities and location.
The wide range of leisure activities on offer at Waldcamping am Brombachsee is just as impressive as the family atmosphere. The friendly staff are particularly attentive to guests' wishes. If you want to cater for yourself, you can buy the most important basic foodstuffs in the self-service shop. A separate dishwashing room is available for washing up. Waldcamping am Brombachsee also has washing machines and four clean sanitary facilities. The spacious family bathrooms and the colourful children's area are popular with the youngest guests. Four-legged friends have their own shower on the campsite and there is also a dog beach on Brombachsee.
We recommend booking pitches and accommodation via Pincamp in advance of your holiday.
