PiNCAMP interview with the campsite manager
Exclusive information you won't find anywhere else.
1- How would you describe the atmosphere at your campsite in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening?
In the morning, the first guests start with a few laps in the pool or set off on a bike tour, hike, or an excursion destination in Pinzgau and Salzburg. In the afternoon, the bathing complex, tennis, giant trampoline, and low ropes course are on the agenda. In the evening, the day winds down relaxed with dinner, at the bar, or with live music.
2- Introduce yourself!
Woferlgut is managed by the Hofer family with great personal commitment. We ourselves are closely connected to the place and have known it for many years from different perspectives. What we particularly appreciate: seeing how Woferlgut develops while retaining its personal character – and when guests gladly return, we know that we are doing many things right.
3- Is there a local product guests take home as a souvenir?
A small marmot as a souvenir for the children or a piece of Pinzgau cheese and bacon for home are popular souvenirs. Guests also like to take regional natural products from the farm shop next door. Thus, from the holiday remains not only the memory of the mountains, but also a piece of Pinzgau.
4- Is there anything else you want to tell us?
Sportcamp Woferlgut is a starting point for an active holiday in every season – between mountains, lakes, and glaciers and with diverse sports and leisure opportunities directly at the campsite. In summer, cycling, hiking, and swimming attract; in winter, skiing, cross-country skiing, and tobogganing. Thus, nature, movement, and relaxation can be combined throughout the year.
5- Is there a place where children make new friends especially easily?
New friendships are particularly easily made around our bathing complex, at Adventure Golf, and on the giant trampoline. Whether sliding together, playing in the pool, competing at mini-golf, or jumping high – here, children easily connect and experience their holiday together. Friendships also quickly form on the guided hiking and cycling tours.
6- Is there a situation where you repeatedly realize: "this is exactly why we do what we do"?
When we see families returning from an active day of hiking in the mountains or a bike tour, children quickly jumping into the water, and parents relaxing on the guest terrace, we know: This is exactly why we do this job. It's especially wonderful when guests return year after year and their holiday, whether summer or winter, at Woferlgut becomes a shared family tradition.
7- Is there a story of the campsites history you enjoy telling your guests?
A special story is told by our now 500-year-old oak tree, which stands directly at Woferlgut. It was planted around 1526, during the time of the peasant uprisings, and has thus witnessed more than five centuries of history. Today, it stands in the middle of the resort and reminds us how much has changed around this place over the generations.
8- What is the most spectacular accommodation you have on your site?
Those who don't arrive with their own camper will find comfortable 'Schwalbennest' rooms, suites, and cozy holiday apartments with us. Particularly nice: hotel guests also enjoy the resort's diverse sports and leisure facilities, from the 4,500 m² bathing complex to the private bathing lake and the mountains right on the doorstep.
9- What is typical of your campsite, but difficult to explain on photos?
Photos show pitches, the bathing complex, sports facilities, and the location – but not how versatile a holiday day at Woferlgut can be. In the morning, you go swimming or to the mountains; during the day, you cycle, hike, or spend time with the family, before the day winds down with dinner, at the bar, or with live music.
10- What makes your site different and stand out from other campsites nearby?
With us, an active holiday in nature combines with a diverse range of sports and water activities directly at the campsite. We are located at KM 0 of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road, ideal for road cyclists and excursions into the mountain world. After an active day, 4,500 m² of bathing complex, a 50-meter sports pool, a bathing lake, and offers such as yoga, Pilates, and aqua fitness await.
11- What should guests not miss—even if it’s not mentioned in any travel guide?
Those who holiday with us should actively discover the region: The Grossglockner High Alpine Road starts right on our doorstep, the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier with TOP OF SALZBURG is fascinating, and the Krimml Waterfalls are an impressive natural experience. Our tip: Plan time in between for further discoveries, a bike tour to the gorge, a hike to the high mountain reservoirs, or a day at Lake Zell.
12- Which encounter between guests has stayed particularly memorable for you?
The encounters that naturally arise at the campsite are particularly memorable for us. A shared conversation by the bathing lake turns into an appointment for a bike tour, children meet to play, and in the evening, you sit down for an ice cream under the old oak tree. Precisely this mixture of activity, openness, and uncomplicated togetherness makes camping so special for us.
13- Which regional food or drink should guests absolutely try?
Anyone visiting us in Pinzgau should definitely try Kasnocken, preferably with a cool glass of Salzburg beer. Regional classics like Kaspressknödel are also part of a holiday in the Salzburg region for us and taste even better after an active day in the mountains.
14- Which spot on your campsite makes guests say “WOW”?
Our WOW moment is the 4,500 m² bathing complex with mountain views. While children discover the water slide and heated pools, the peaks of the Salzburg mountains draw the eye outside. Added to this is our 15,000 m² private bathing lake – water, mountains, and nature right at the campsite.
15- Which story do children tell when they are back from holiday?
'We were in the water every day!' – and then it continues: Who got the furthest on the slackline by the bathing lake, who won at tennis, what adventures there were in the low ropes course, and with whom one was in the same boat during rafting. And of course, the story of new friends from the campsite must not be missing.
16- Which strength of your campsite is often underestimated online?
It is often underestimated how personally the sports camp is managed. The Hofer family is present in the daily operations themselves, and many employees have been part of the team for years. Our guests also feel this continuity – the friendliness and attentiveness of our team are repeatedly highlighted in reviews.

Unfortunately, there are no washing areas in the outdoor area, nor any windows in the existing ones. While this might be practical in winter, it is somewhat disadvantageous in summer. We particularly noticed the tranquility of the site in the evening as a positive aspect.

Campsite with a wide range of sports activities
In the heart of the Austrian holiday region of Bruck/Zell am See, the Woferlgut sports camp invites you to enjoy a varied activity and family holiday. Open all year round, the site offers 200 parcelled pitches for caravans, motorhomes or tents. WLAN is available free of charge throughout the 12-hectare site. One of the campsite's highlights is its private 1.5-hectare bathing lake, which can be reached via a subway. For an additional charge, guests at the sports campsite can use the wellness and bathing world at the Hotel Woferlgut, which includes a 50-metre sports pool as well as slides for little water rats. The extensive sports programme includes three tennis courts, beach volleyball, football and basketball courts as well as group courses. There are daily guided hiking and cycling tours through the beautiful countryside. Guests of all ages meet at the stream that flows through the Woferlgut sports camp. While the little ones splash around in the clear mountain water, parents can boost their circulation with a Kneipp session. There is also a low ropes course in the park-like garden with a slackline, suspension bridges and trembling beams. Fun is also guaranteed in the "Topi Children's Club", where the carers invite children to take part in the children's Olympics, football tournaments and arts and crafts. If the weather doesn't play ball, the children's cinema and the indoor Kinderland provide a change of scenery. Little animal fans love visiting the good-natured ponies at Woferlgut.
Fantastic conditions for winter and summer sports enthusiasts
During the warm season, the trained hiking guide at the Sportcaming Woferlgut invites you to go on tours in the marvellous mountain world. A family-friendly circular route, for example, leads 12 kilometres around Lake Zell. The two-hour hike from "Lampenhäusl" to the "Ponyhofalm" at 1,440 metres above sea level is also worthwhile. There, hungry guests can fortify themselves in the rustic hut with savoury alpine cheese, bacon and other delicacies. In winter, the ski bus takes you directly from Sportcamp Woferlgut to the Zell am See Kaprun ski area with 77 kilometres of beautifully groomed pistes. Cross-country skiers start directly from the campsite onto the cross-country ski trail. In good snow conditions, the region offers a total of 100 kilometres of cross-country trails. Snowshoe hikes through the snow-covered landscape are also a delight. If that's not enough, head to the nearby Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang-Fieberbrunn ski area.
