Smegarden Camping offers a relaxing nature holiday in the heart of Norway amidst gentle mountain slopes. Open all year round, the family campsite with rental cabins and a flat to slightly sloping meadow area for caravans and motorhomes is located in the Drivdalen river valley in the south of the Trøndelag region. Around 8 kilometres away at the foot of Dovrefjell is the winter sports resort of Oppdal, known for its attractive pistes and high-altitude cross-country ski trails. In the warmer months, the natural landscape around the campsite is ideal for hiking and cycling. The large flocks of sheep typical of Oppdal are a constant companion along the way. Musk ox and elk safaris in the surrounding pine forests are also very popular. You can also try your luck at fishing on the river that flows past the campsite.

We were passing through there in October '21 and were already annoyed by the mostly poorly equipped sanitary facilities at Norwegian campsites. This place was completely different. Very nice owner and top-notch amenities in every respect. The kitchen was equipped with everything particularly needed by tent campers. The sanitary facilities were very clean. Everything is not brand new but very well-maintained. Flowers in the bathrooms and music create a cozy atmosphere. The site is generously sized, making maneuvering with the caravan easy. Free Wi-Fi that is very good throughout the entire site. One of the best places during our trip to Norway.
