After we broke down due to a breakdown, we were kindly towed by the friendly ADAC driver to this very nice campsite. We were received very kindly. The campsite is elongated directly by the shore of Lake Schalsee. Our spot was above. There was a very clean and well-kept washhouse. There was even a small kitchen. Next to it was the C-field, ideal for motorhomes. Down by the lake, there are also tent sites and a few spots for temporary campers. Otherwise, there are relatively many permanent campers. Right at the camp, there is a very orderly farm shop (although not quite inexpensive) with meat, drinks, fruit, vegetables, preserves... It's worth it! Very delicious rolls! Closed on Mondays. There is a café attached. Right on the site, there is also a dining option, but it was closed due to illness. A nice children's playground and mini-golf are available. You can swim and paddle well in the lake. In Salem (within walking distance), there is a delicious restaurant and the possibility to rent paddle boats or pedal boats. A tour in the Schalsee canal is definitely worth it. You can also store your own paddle boats down by the lake. At the back, you are directly in the forest, and we took a great hike to Seedorf. Thank you very much for an involuntarily wonderful time!

Very unkempt, very rude, nature top! Campsite junk. Every RV space like Niendorfer. Thousand times better. Not suitable for children, there are few opportunities.

Many of the beautiful plots are very rundown and neglected... it disturbs the overall impression The paths to the lake are so poorly maintained... very dilapidated Washing houses are okay and somewhat clean Long-term campers are very loud, drunk, and frightening on weekends Nature alone is not enough for five stars

A beautiful place in wonderful nature Unfortunately, some permanent campers believe the site is their property Vacationers are insulted and threatened Nevertheless, the sanitary facilities are okay And the staff at the reception are very nice The new restaurant also looked very inviting.

We have been here for a few days. Overall beautiful nature, great lake. The tour of the place is warm but very chaotic. A lot seems to have changed, washing machines, brands, dryers, all very chaotic. Unfortunately, no proper waste separation except for paper and residual waste. Everything seems a bit older, except for the reception. New meets old, plans and facility somehow not identical. The lake and the surrounding forest are pleasant and beautiful, rolls and some other items like milk, cheese, jam, etc. are available nearby (2km) at the Kaiser farm shop (for a lot of money). Lots of joy to all visitors 🙂

A beautiful place by the lake. Clean washing facilities, playground, minigolf, snacks. Beautifully located in nature. Nice area for bike tours or canoeing. The lake is nice and clean. Very friendly staff. A large area as well as small places directly at the lake invite warmly for pleasant stays. Simply great for a few days.

The lake is easily accessible from all locations in a short time by foot, bicycle, and car. The staff at the information/reception is always friendly and helpful. Whether with a camper tent or just visiting, there is a spot for everyone that will please them. All sanitary facilities are clean and regularly maintained by the staff! The food options are limited but good; unfortunately, a small kiosk/store for daily needs is missing, and one has to go to Ratzeburg or Mölln for that. Bus connections are unfortunately only available during the week, but the site cannot be held responsible for that. I really enjoy being here; it is a small place in paradise.

Such a well-located place that is not utilized at all. What a shame. Its size is not an issue, as the space extends over a large area and several levels. Where the 4 stars come from is a mystery to us.... Sanitary facilities: not very clean. During peak season, a single cleaning may not be enough for the many guests. No toilet paper. The soap dispensers in the ladies' room are always empty. No disinfectant dispensers. Out of 3 showers, all 3 are broken and spray in all directions or produce just a trickle. Pretty mosaics on the walls don't help me at all. Family-friendly, as they describe their site... there is not a single family bathroom or children's bath where you can wash and bathe your baby. Just a loveless and too narrow changing booth in the ladies' restroom. The playground is well equipped and large, but unfortunately very unkempt. Our daughter could play there in the morning with the trash left by the youth from the night before. Bags, candy wrappers, food scraps, (used) band-aids, ice cream sticks, and so on and so forth. When choosing your spot, you should definitely pay attention to how accessible the path to the lake is. Some parts are not possible with a stroller. The lawn for day guests/vacationers is very noisy. We saw many empty and rundown plots among the permanent campers. No shopping opportunities except for a great farm shop, which not everyone can afford. Long story short: 4 stars are definitely not justified.
