I received a great introduction as I was traveling with a tent and bike; I could choose whether to spend the night on one of the two tent fields or take a different pitch for tents. We have been guests at Walkenried several times. Unfortunately, it seems the concept has changed, and we are very disappointed. No more children's entertainment. The party tents have been taken down, and a grill was haphazardly set up with "warm" drinks being served. (The area wasn’t prepared, the tent was taken down, and that was it; leaves from previous years are lying around the edges, and not even a broom has visited that corner). This is really a shame. The swimming pool was very dirty! We will likely strike this place off our list, even though we really like the nature and the spot itself. Such a pity...

The stay was nearly flawless. The issue with a spontaneous arrival was resolved easily. The sanitary facilities are very well-kept. Most of the pitches are wonderful. Unfortunately, we had one of the only two pitches whose ground was damaged and had additionally been dug up due to the long rainy days prior. This was unpleasant when settling the caravan and sitting outside.

The reception and check-in were very friendly and absolutely uncomplicated. That's how camping should start. The site, with its trees and plants, is very natural and well-maintained. The rural surroundings are fantastic and perfect for relaxing and hiking. We had a fun and great time. Perhaps a more suitable spot could be found for the table tennis, as the ground is very uneven and slippery. In the sun, the ball becomes hard to see.
