The Brocken, an impressive excursion destination and the highest peak in the Harz Mountains, is around 38 km away from KNAUS Campingpark Walkenried. Numerous trees surround the pitches on the natural meadow area and offer shade and privacy. A special feature of the campsite is its own indoor swimming pool with a sauna area. The lady at the reception was extremely friendly and helpful. The sanitary facilities were clean. The campsite itself needed a bit more maintenance - trimming hedges and trees. The volleyball court and the football pitch looked a bit bleak. We stayed overnight in a CampingPod: a mosquito net would have been nice. We ended up buying one ourselves because there were a lot of mosquitoes.

I received a great introduction as I was traveling with a tent and bike; I could choose whether to spend the night on one of the two tent fields or take a different pitch for tents.
